Never got a Wii because I know it will get used for a week then collect dust in the two year gap between Nintendo releasing a new Zelda/Mario/Metroid game. Nintendo really roped a lot of non-gamers into spending $250 on a Wii Sports machine.

Yeh, but on your PC the only thing moving is your fingers.
Meloves my Wii Fit.

and I am not knocking wii, I like it. But I don't expect to play FPS on there, though it has the ideal controls for it.

I am just saying the target audience is not the same as ps3/xbox 360 but rather the much bigger community, the one that play pickup game.

I think they made the right choice.

Everyone I know that got it at launch has already sold theirs. After about 34 seconds of playing Wii Sports - Tennis for the first time, I knew the novelty would wear off.. quick.

I did see a preview for a black/white comic-book style action game for Wii that looked awesome though, forget what it's called.

I've never owned one, but i've lived with/near people who had one and I can only really play it with other people and only for about an hour. I like boom blox, mario games and sports of course. I just feel underwhelmed by everything else. Like some of the games are so DUMB they should be free. Like the mini games in the rabids spinoff from rayman. The dancing and musical mini game is SOOOOOO lame.

I suggest to the op to stick to the A titles if possible. I would like to have one, just to have around. But my xbox barely gets play time. I've postponed finishing GTA4 since my save got erased so I've mainly been playing WoW and DotA, CoD4 and L4D

With the release of Rockband 2 for the Wii, there is not much point in getting a PS3 or 360. The PS3 is much more expensive. The 360 is not nearly as social as the Wii. The game selection is better for the PS3 and 360, but only if you consider FPS- and 'Grand Theft'-style titles "games" (which I don't). I looked at the 360 and PS3 libraries and there aren't more than 5 or 6 titles total that I'm interested in. I can get twice that many good games off of Wiiware right now.

What I don't understand is why people are so down on the Wii? I mean, sheesh, so much hate for the best selling system out there.

I've got eight games for my Wii and play it all the time. I've only got two right now for my PS3 even though I've had both for about the same amount of time. I simply have more fun on the Wii than the PS3. That doesn't mean that I knock the PS3 though, it's a great system.

I just pains me to see the same Wii haters in every single thread spreading venom just to make themselves feel/look better. We get it, you don't like it. PISS OFF!

I've had mine since launch and still harbor no thoughts of selling it.

 I laugh because it's so true.

Well except it took maybe 2 or 3 months to become old to me.

I even modded mine and that still didn't keep my playing it.

My wife only sometimes uses it to play wii fit.

I did have a lot of fun with Mario Kart and Smash Bros, but once that got old I found most other games really suck.

My 5 YO would play everyday if he was allowed. The only problem is he screams "WHAT THE ?" anytime something negative occurs. We tried to put a stop to that since we have no idea how he is gonna eventually finish his sentence. Previously we had to put a stop to "Holy Cow" since my mom being a devout Hindu, finds it offensive. We also had to eliminate "GOD!!" since my mother-in-law is a strict Catholic and does not condone such language.

My 3 YO has lost interest after he could not get the super serve working in tennis. He rather watch Kung Fu Panda.

So in my assessment; the pros and cons of a Wii purchase should be considered seriously.

I've had one since May 2007, and its ok. I have a hard time finding a game that keeps my interest for awhile, and many of the "must have" titles I've been disappointed with. Although it goes weeks sometimes without getting used, I don't regret buying it.

I've had mine since launch and have around 14-15 games. A few were busts, but most were worth the money. I guess 3 or 4 were 30+ hour games (Paper Mario, Zelda, Metroid Prime, etc.).

Just got home with No More Heroes and Battalion Wars II for cheap.

I'm not a huge fan of it... it can be fun every now and again, but I've seen no reason to buy one. Typically, I look at a library of games and try to justify the price based on how many games I would play. I usually only get Mario Kart on my list of games I'd play . My brother sat out in the cold for over a day just to get one and he never plays it... same with my friend (who sat out with said brother).

But I do agree that chicks love it for some strange reason . Maybe it's the phallic Wiimote!

Sadly I've had the opposite reaction. I haven't bought a PC game in over a year (shitty console ports + shitty DRM ftl), and really don't like consoles, but have a blast with the Wii periodically. Been playing Guitar Hero a lot lately and never thought I would like that game.

But Guitar Hero isn't a Wii only game nor does it gain anything because it's on the Wii (from the Wii controller scheme). In fact, most of the music games have no access to DLC... I believe Rock Band II is the first one to do so?

Mock my finger exercises!? I've never had a single female complain about my finger dexterity .

Yeah, well I hate you people that hate us people that hate.

But actually, discounting someone's opinion just because it's against yours is silly. Sure, if they just say "kiddy machinelol" then there's more of a point as that's a troll post. But when someone says "Yeah, I owned one, got bored and sold it"... that's a valid opinion, man (and in this case, it even has anecdotal evidence)!

No, the Wii is for people who enjoy Wii games. It's really that simple. People don't need to fit into your stupid stereotypes to enjoy their games.

<-- has never played a Wii but I look forward to trying it one day.

You are pretty blind then because people that enjoy the wii don't game that often. I've seen several in this thread.

Nothing wrong with that, it's just not on the same level as the 360 or PS3. It's clearly working to make Nintendo $$$.

I've been gaming since Zonk (Pong knock-off) I've owned about 10 different consoles from the Atari 2600 up to the Dreamcast. I don't own a Wii but my GF does, she's a hardcare gamer. We both love it. Wii Sports is still fun, and I had a blast with Rayman Rabbid Rabits. She also has Call Of Duty, Madden & Zelda. None of those 3 are aimed at the non gamer market. There are a bunch of Wii titles that aren't mini games that cater to a non gamer.

You are correct. Still, if not for the Wii I would never have played the game (Wii is for SO's 14yo daughter, who plays it alot). I have played and enjoyed the Wii sports games and Mario Kart as well, while the Wii Fit does nothing for me.
