Folks, I need a recommendation on a really good new vaper. I know very little about this, so bear with me. Per someone's (moonbogg?) recommendation earlier, I ordered this a few months ago:

https://www.massdrop.com/buy/innoki...campaign=Transactional: Shipping Notification

Itaste MVP. It works, but I'm not getting very much vapor out of it. I'm looking to find something where I can get big clouds, I guess. I've been carrying this thing around so I'm pretty committed now, and willing to spend whatever it takes, within reason.

Also, I'd like the thing to be smaller than this. This thing is a big rectangular brick. Help me out, thanks!

eleaf istick from here is a bit smaller and becoming somewhat more popular if you plan on sticking with the box types.

that tank/atomizer are you using? Aspire nautilus regular or mini with bvc head seems to be one of the best off the shelf tanks out there right now.

Ok, thanks for the responses. So when I bought this you could add on a "Kanger Glass EVOD" for 5 bucks, so I did that. That is what I'm using with the big rectangular unit. I assume that thing is the tank/atomizer (those are synonyms?) that I'm using.

I'd be willing to try just a new atomizer if that will make a difference, but if I can make the whole unit smaller, I'd like to do that. I'd rather have it look like a wand than a brick. My budget? I'll consider paying even 100 bucks if its a good long term investment.

I really dont know if I want regulated or unregulated...I'm not sure what that means.

I'd like the thing to be as plug & play as possible. I don't want to do any tinkering or building my own stuff.

Also with regard to my Itaste MVP, it has variable voltage and whatnot but I dont even know which settings to use on that. I think I use P9.0 most of the time, whatever that means.

EVOD would be the atomizer. Regulated means that you can adjust the power output. In your case you have it set to 9 watts. P is Innokin's designation for wattage while V (looks more like a U) is for voltage. On the MVP you can adjust power output by wattage or voltage. Wattage is probably easier since you don't have to try and figure out which voltage setting will achieve a certain wattage given your coil's resistance.

This explains voltage vs wattage better than I can: http://www.vapertrain.com/page/utvvb

I would take the suggestion of the Nautilus mini. Puts out pretty decent vapor with good flavor. 101vape.com currently has it for $22.99 with two extra coils (plus $1.99 shipping). The iTaste vv/vw 3.0 is another small form factor battery. I have one and use it with a Nautilus mini when I'm travelling. I think I paid $35 for the vv/vw when I got it.

I have both of the Nautilus tanks and like them, the nice part is you can buy the BVC and use for both tanks, have the big one on my Evic Supreme, and use a mini one on a Spinner II.

Is nice having to just have one coil for both.

I'll say they are good tanks in general myself, the mini would work well on an EVOD.

I have that battery, you want to use volts because it's more granular. There's charts out there like this one, just check the resistance for your coil on the left and find the right voltage range.

On the MVP it will detect the resistance by pushing both buttons at once for a sec. My coil is 1.6 so it displays as A 1.6.

On the buttons P=Watts, U=Volts. To adjust by volts hold the U button in for several seconds. It'll display the puff counter, then the current volts. If you want to change it, quickly tap U again, it'll go up one increment at a time to the max (5.0), then reset to the lowest (3.3).

You can set it for watts by hitting the P button instead.

I'm using a pro tank 3, it works good enough, but I'd consider something else if I was buying new.

I would agree with others that are saying. Just buy a Nautilus Mini and see how that does.

The atomizer is the thing that makes the vapor. The box or tube device that you have simply holds a battery. Its just a battery and has less effect on performance than the atomizer. The Nautilus Mini with BVC heads (it comes with them stock) has super good reviews.
If you want a battery that provides more power, then the eleaf istick seems really good for the price.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_W1G7p_fCJw

Good review of eleaf istick. Its compared to the MVP and its much smaller than the MVP yet more powerful.

Exactly, the batter is just a power supply. The only real things that it affects are: power output and battery life. OK, so bigger=longer and variable voltage/wattage means you can tweak the output for your coil. As long as your output can match the coil you're good to go. While other batteries may be "better" it can only be marginally better (longer life, wider range of output).

The only things that affect vapor output from there is the coil and juice.

Thanks for the recommendations folks. One thing is still on my mind...I'm seeing people around and their "mod" is more of a smaller cylinder type thing. Kinda looks like a light saber I guess. Appears to be smaller/less bulky than mine. I'm looking for something very easy to carry around. As you all know, pocket space is at a premium. Is there one of those type units you'd recommend?

I'll probably put an order in for this Nautilus mini thing though. Would I be able to use it with my theoretical light-saber type unit?

Ahh, after looking at some reviews of the eleaf istick it does seem nice and small. Smaller than the MVP i'm using. Thats gonna be in the lead for me right now unless I find my luke skywalker light saber.

Sounds like you are looking for a tube mod then. There are several choices: Innokin SVD, Provari (expensive - maybe overpriced - but very well built), Vamo V5, and several tubes made by Sigelei just to name a few. If you check out the APV section of the e-cigarette forums there is a plethora of information and reviews on just about any type of mod. Quality and durability can vary greatly from what Ive read, so I don't want to suggest one that turns out to be a dud. However, I do have a Provari 2.5 and can reccomend that or the Provari mini without reservation, but they start at $150.

Any of the above will easily run a Nautilus, mini or otherwise.

I got that battery because pocket space is a premium.

The round style batteries use standard replaceable/rechargeable batteries. Sizes 18350, 18500, 18650, etc with various mAh ratings. These are typically in a round handle, brand doesn't matter so much here, what type of battery and is it adjustable.

Here's the innokin round style. http://www.myvaporstore.com/Innokin_iTaste_SVD_s/121.htm

Can't vouch for the store, just linking for example.

Which battery? The iTaste? Its fine, but if there's something smaller and lighter, gimme that. My regular weekend attire is basketball shorts, and I don't like stuff pulling them down.

I think I'm gonna grab the iStick now, and the Nautilus mini. And if they serve me well and I get more into it, maybe I'll grab one of those provaris. The Provari 3 looks pretty sexy.

So uh...can anyone further hold my hand and ... recommend a place to buy these things?

I use a Vamo V5 with the Nautilus Mini, pretty good setup for those who don't want to spend too much, get some good clouds from it too.

Not many places have the iStick in stock. Evape.us and vapenw.com appear to. You may also be able to find the natilus there as well, but if you can't 101vape.com has the mini on sale for 22.99. I haven't dealt with the first two, but I have ordered from 101 several times and the service has been good.

If I didn't have a provari 2.5, i'd grab a 3.0 for sure. The SVD 2.0 is new, powerful and a good price for what you get also.

Don't forget, the DNA40 devices just came out as well. Goes up to 40 watts and actually lets you set the temperature of the wire! Pretty amazing.

Folks, I am back with more questions and stories to tell.

First, I want to thank everyone for their input, I am pretty happy with my new purchases. I ordered the iStick and the Nautilus mini. They both came in yesterday. The iStick is awesome. Its everything I wanted. Jury's still out on the nautilus mini, as I'm still not getting the huge clouds I'm looking for...but I am getting bigger clouds. I believe I just need to refine my technique at this point.

Now, I was using some pretty lame juice, Vanilla Latte flavor, from a local store that makes their own. Buy local, right? Well, this stuff tasted artificial...was never a big fan but I did vape it for at least 2 months...just this stuff. So anyways, I didn't want to pollute my new pieces with this lame juice.

So now is the story of how my whole world has opened up to "Craft" EJuice. I googled "best ejuice 2014" and the very first site was an eye opener. I ordered Mother's Milk from Suicide Bunny, and Gambit from Five Pawns. Those are still on the way. But yesterday I just got my new pieces, and I wanted something immediately. I hit the internet, looking for places in town that sell these "craft" ejuices.

I found a place that carries Five Pawns juice only a mile away (!), and went over to test them out. I came out with a flavor called Castle Long. Its a very complex flavor, it tastes of bourbon, vanilla, almond and coconut. Its an extremely satisfying flavor, it feels like it was made by a dude on the Top Chef show. I also tested the gambit, grandmaster, and a choloate mint one. All are very, very good. In retrospect, the one I bought may be a bit heavy for all day use, but I'm still digging it for now...kinda wish I went grandmaster instead though.

And now, the questions. What is BVC? Someone said to buy the nautilus mini with BVC head. Does my nautilus mini have that?

Fill tank all the way? When I filled the tank with this new juice, I only filled half way (because I wanted to try new flavors soon). Is there anything wrong with that? Like poor performance due to not being filled? Kinda a dumb question, I know.

Best way to test a few different flavors? Just fill it slightly? Clean the tank between?

And one thing about the iStick...the screen is showing 1.9 ohms...is that the resistance of my coil? I believe it is.

I'll try to answer what I can.

The ohms should be the resistance on the coil, you should be able to verify this with the packaging on the coils. Take that 1.9 number and go to the chart I linked above to find the right voltage. Start low and go up slowly, you'll find a sweet spot that doesn't pop and hiss too much but generates good vapor.

I fill the tank all the way, does seem to affect things until I'm nearly empty. When I'm getting close to empty (but there's still enough juice to submerge the coil) it feels like it starts to hit... different.

If you're trying different ones I'd recommend one coil per flavor, or at least types of flavors (keep sweet/fruity ones on the same coil).

Nicoticket is doing free upgrades to order size today. 30ml upgraded to 50ml etc. I ordered a 30 and a 50 of Custard's Last Stand to equal 100ml. Good stuff. Shiznit, I hear you can use those BVC (bottom vertical coil) heads at a higher than normal wattage. Typical wattage used is 8-10 but people use those at like 13 and up from what I've read. Check out http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/
lots of good info there about everything.

Make sure the Nautilus is on tightly (but dont over tighten), it SHOULD be reading at 1.8 ohms not 1.9 ohms, it could be the iStick is reading ohms slightly off, your coil is slightly off, or it's not a fully secure connection. And yes, the nautilus comes with the BVC coils, make sure to order BVC coils in the future as well.

I'm still not getting the huge butts I'm looking for...but I am getting bigger butts.
For larger clouds you are going to have to use higher VG to PG ratio than 50/50. More VG generally gives more clouds (but it can mute the flavour). You may also consider building your own coils and moving to an RDA/RBA (rebuildable dripping atomizer) which will provide the most customization possible and can give you as much clouds as possible if that's what you're in to. However they are somewhat difficult to build properly and require you to do a decent bit of work.

I don't like huge butts myself. I was going to get into cloud chasing, but ended up being so satisfied with what I already have that I forgot all about it. Why waste juice especially when the good stuff is expensive? Interest not found in massive vapor production.

Also, if your ohms reading is off by .1 or so, don't freak out. Its not always perfectly precise and the ohms will often change slightly after using the coil head for a little while. If it doesn't read exactly what the box says, nothing is broken.

Yeah I don't get the point, once it's "enough" why more? You vape more juice, so you have to lower the nicotine meaning you are trying to pay more for less.

To me, I just thought that a larger cloud would equal a more satisfying vape for me. And perhaps some of that would be the satisfaction that my eyes get from seeing a large cloud. What I have right now is working out pretty well though. I don't think I'll be jumping through any more hoops in order to attain the large clouds.

With these huge bottles of juice I just got, I can be liberal with my usage, even if the stuff I got is quite expensive.

Thanks for hangin in there with my dumb newbie questions y'all.

Now I will say, I thought I would be seeing more "oohs" and "aahs" about my craft juice. Its good stuff. Go try some five pawns stuff and let me know what you all think!
