FROFLMA

Why don't you come and see what my 1995 Dodge Stealth R/T that cost me $2000 will do to your Celica!

You know, that same stealth would run you about 3-5K out here in the pacific northwest. Those are sweet cars and deffinately pack a greater punch than my Supra. Now if I could get my hands on a 95 Supra TT, then I'd drive out and meet up with your Stealth. But alas, there is no way in hell am I going to find a 95 Supra NA for less than 10K in running condition out here.

cbehnken, thought I'd let you know. Just checked auto trader and there is no 95 Stealths for sell in this area, or at least within 300 miles of my zip code. The closest was well over 1000 miles.

Now I found some mkiv Supras for sale, 93-97, Here is the closest one to me:
Closest
Here is one that is a little farther away, 39 miles, but costs alot more:
Farther away
And this is the cheapest one that is under 300 miles away, 110 miles from me:
Cheapy

edit: I take back the 3-5K statement, how about 6k? 96 Stealth R/T:

Any of those cars will run you a lot more than 2K - you're talking about real sports cars.
Like I said though, you could've gotten a 90-91 240sx with half the milage for the amount you paid for that supra. Alternatively you coud've gotten 89-90 mr2 supercharged or z31 300zx with about the same age.

Anything turbocharged with 250-300Hp made after 90-91 will run you at least 4K assuming normal market price.

Oh yeah Mkiv supra has really nothing in common with your car outside the name. I hope you didn't buy your car thinking it's cool because it's got "Supra" in the name.

Boy, you know nothing about Supras. Just leave this thread alone or change all of your posts to "bumps" cause that is about all you are doing. The MKIV Supra motor will fit inside of my Supras bay, with a few mods done. The Supra line is alot closer together than you realize. You bring up the 300z, great cars buy I wouldn't want to work under the hood, talk about your high maintenance. Please, go do 2 years worth of research and get a few years of hands on experience with Supras before you post in this thread again. Thanks

If you wanna do the 7mgte swap, props to you. Send 4-5K and you'll have a monster... as-is the car isn't fast at all though and you def overpaid if you bought it just for the chassis.

I've owned 2 z32s (one high milage and one low) and neither one was particularly heavy on maintenance.

Do you know what a QX4 is? It's an SUV, and you want me to run around a track? I'd flip the thing over.

As long as we race in the snow, then we'll see who does the best lap.

Yeah I know what the qx4 is. sure, I'll race ya in the snow, downhill from Mt. Rainer, first one to the bottom with a car that is still running with minor to no damage wins.

is it me or does someone watch too much initial d?

also, my friend just picked up his 2nd s13 for under 1k. both are running fine, no body damage, one with minor rust under the spoiler. the first one he got for 900, and the second for 750. for the extra 700~850 he could do a lot more with it. like fix the rust and lots of suspension work.

rwd. you will fit, handles great, cheaper, and.......... a lot newer.

*edit*
and both were around 120k miles when he got them

Yeah they are rare and I was lucky to find it

That 96 Stealth "R/T" is actually an ES or base model. The R/Ts had round fog lights, different tail lights, and there will no rubber strip around the body.

Not doing a 7mgte swap, not gonna have the pains of that engine. Probably going to end up rebuilding the 5mge I have and converting it to a 5mgte. boosting the car from 150/159 to well over 200 in both hp and torque, depending on how I set the car up, if I do it right it'll out perform the stock mkiiis. Oh, and one more thing, this car has the 4.10 axle on it. Apparently its a rare thing to find on a L-type mkii. Cheers!

you coulda picked up a newer 5.0 that needed restored for that much and prolly had it running well too.

LOL. Well, I'll keep my 69 chevelle, and you can just drive crown vics and STS's all you want

* I think that is a fine buy. It is hard to find good running cars of any sort for ~$1,000 that aren't going to need a lot of maitenance. I love my 99' mustang GT 5-spd, I hope you have the same fun with your car!

AND at least isn't a freaking POS import FWD ricer.....

Congrats. Personally I wouldn't have touched it, just cause to me something with that many miles is pretty well shot and going to need money poored in soon. I'd rather pay more up front and get something not quite as worn out. But to each his own. It does certainly look like it's in great shape for the age. Hope it works out for you!

oh, well its a good thing I dont live in VA. Although there is a sweet mint condition 83 celica supra for sale on ebay thats garaged in WV right now.
You can't use classic plates on a daily driver in WA either. Classic plates never need to be renewed, but they limit you to driving the vehicle to and from shows or in classic car club events only.

However, very few police are anal enough to enforce that law.

Bullshit buddy. The frame is perfect, body has no dents or rust. Paint needs a couple touch up spots but nothing major. Interior is clean. Age means nothing to this car. end of story for you.
It's 22 years old!! It's from another historical era. Everything in it is outdated and ancient, and from the 80s. It belongs in the Scott Baio museum.

No matter how clean it is, you cannot justify it.
I'll put my 19 year old 951 up against almost any new car. Hell, 951's run lazy circles around boxsters on the track. And my 29 year old 914 will surprise just about anything on 4 wheels down a twisty road.

Age has nothing to do with it young one.

As for me, I'd rather have my 951 and 914 than the Supra, but that's simply a personal preference. The Supra is a nice looking car and I think he got a very good one.

To everyone saying that it's worth $400, you're out of your minds... If a car runs, it's worth $1,000. Any car selling for less than that is liable to throw a rod on the drive home.

Yes sir, fit just fine. Oh, I know it says Celica Supra, but call it a Supra, the only thing the same between the Celica and the Supra of that year is the rear end cosmetics.

Actually the Supra version came with the 6 cyl. and the cosmetics.

Nice find, not a whole lot of those around anymore. I am more of a Datsun/Nissan person but always liked the style of those Supras. Plus the straight 6 sounds great. Just like my Z.

If its in that good of condition, the $1600 is a decent price for the car. Put a decent set of wheels (even the factory ones looked good on it) and change the exhaust pipe (no, not to a giant fart pipe) and it would be even nicer.

Enjoy it...

Ah yes, the 6 does sound great. There is a small exhaust leak some where in the manifold, so when you open the hood its a little noisier, and one of the injectors happens to be a noisy one. Had a service listen and he said that the car runs and sounds great. Had to take it to service to figure out the driver's wiper issue I had, but thats taken care of.

For those of you that don't understand what the 1983 Supra is, I invite you to check this out: Linky Its a pdf, so you are warned.

So nobody here can value taking an older car and maybe fixing it up? Now, maybe I wouldn't have bought a car with so many miles, but enough of the "OMG LOL 1983" crap. Seriously.

My car is 15 years old and I get compliments on it all the time.

Nothing wrong with older vehicles if they are kept up right.

Also my friend's parents have a Toyota Avalon that is rolling on about 250K now I believe, still going strong...

The only thing 99% of the lemmings on this board are concerned with is gas mileage, resale value, and blending with the crowd - and, of course, the all-important Honda / Toyota badges on the fenders.

Many just don't understand (or refuse to accept) the fact that not everyone likes or desires the latest cookie - cutter Civic or Accord, some people really don't give a crap about gas mileage, and not everyone cares about resale value. Some people would vastly prefer compromising on these things in order to have a car with a little distinction, something not everyone else has, something that sets them apart. Many (like myself) would absolutely hate it if they were to go out to a parking lot and say "now which of these 30 green Honda Civics is mine?"

Some people just don't get it.

Anyways, nice car OP, looks like it's in great shape!

Thanks for the support! I assume from your name that you are running a sweet 88 transam gta, no? If so, I'd love to see some pics of that bad boy. This car will get decent gas mileage, if I'm not romping on it, but man its hard not to.
