they're good deals?

The Fusion is a nice ride. Looks good, decent interior for its class, drives well.

Congrats OP. I personally like that car a lot.

I guess the newer car with a warranty thing means something to some people. I'd rather pay cash for an older vehicle with a lot more character.

You're right. All news cars are crap, worthless, shouldn't have been made, etc. Everyone should buy 20 year old Hondas and spend half their life doing repairs to keep it running.

I had my 20 year old Honda for 5 years but it obviously wasn't that old then.

Since then I've had a 2001 Subaru 2.5RS coupe and I currently own a 2005 Evo VIII and a 1996 Mazda Miata.

Nice try though.

You certainly have a type.

Before I bought, I test drove an 07 Hyundai Sonata which was a bit too much of a mom-car for me, and an 06 Mazda 3i I nearly bought. I had planned on also driving an 07 Impreza 2.5i with 17k miles for 12k before I bought, but I never got around to it

with a great quality record of new cars, and the way the msot people treat their cars like garbage, it is really new > old.

From one new Fusion owner to another, congrats! I just recently bought a 2008 SE I4 with the manual 5-speed transmission with only 6K miles on it for under $11K (Thread about it is here if interested). It is hard to beat the value you get in the Fusion. I am loving mine so far! All the research I did before buying it suggest that they are a very good choice for a reliable "best-bang-for-your-buck" 4-door sedan. DOn't just take MY word for it. Go to edmunds.com and look at OWNER reviews for the 2008 Fusion. Then look at owner reviews for 2008 Accords and 2008 Camrys. Notice anything??

BTW, post some PICS of your new ride!

eh if you were looking for a midsized sedan, there are MUCH MUCH better options. your 2007 fusion will be worth close to nothing in a few years...

and with 49k miles on it, it will begin to show its age. you'll need to start replacing shit to keep it running well. all the fun miles are driven out of it already.

Yes, because everyone knows anything that's not japanese suddenly breaks when it passes 50k. How could we have forgotten that?

I could care less about resale value. not everyone changes cars every 3 years. my car has 104k on it and all I do is general maintence. I will likely keep the car until the wheels fall off. bought it new in '04

OP, glad for your purchase, and looks like a sweet deal.

Are you a guru mechanic that can predict reliability?? if not your just (as usual) blowing smoke faster than a 20 year old CRX...

I find this pretty funny.

The "foreign vs. domestic" debate doesn't make much sense when talking about the Fusion, because the Fusion is a mix of US and Japanese design. The car is built on a modified Mazda6 platform, and has the same engines and transmissions. It's at least half Japanese.

Hell, the "foreign vs. domestic" doesn't make much sense with most cars these days. You can buy Hondas that were designed and built in the US, and GMs that were designed and built in Korea.

Resale value is everything. My 91 Supra with 200k miles is still worth like 25k because it's a Japanese car. You think I'm an idiot and I'd buy just anything? I've only been driving it for 10 years. In another 10, some guy will pay me 20k for it. Morons and your American cars.

I probably won't be planning on something WRX like for another 3 years or so, and by then I'll have had my license for 5 years, likely with no tickets on record (as well as anyone can predict at least), so not that bad really. The only premium drop after that point will be when I turn 25

Now pay it off and don't do that again.

Oh right, because if you don't pay cash for everything you're a dolt. No wonder I forgot about that part, I'm just an immature dumbass 18 year old :

Wow, so many asses in this thread.

Congrats on the car OP. Don't worry about the car trolls we have here, they get tired easily and move on to fresh prey after a while. As you know they all drive LP640's which they paid cash for, which they do all the spanner work on and drive like Gods on track, but like Nuns on the road.

Congrats. The Fusion/Mazda6 are the cars that I actually recommend now for the price!

Not that bad really, all depends on where you are and whom you are with. At least thats how it worked out for me.

Either way congrats on the car! At least one good point is that with that many miles in so little amount of time theres a good chance they were mostly highway which is easier on it.
