I am about to go back to work and will be buying this product at midnight with over night shipping...

I know I want a geforceFX 5900, the 5900 ultra and 5950's are too much $ for me right now. I however can't decide on a brand!!!!! As usual I am not considered an eVGA or XFX. Newegg doesn't seem to have an MSI. I was leaning towards the gainward they have for $223 but from what I can tell on their site that card has 2.8ns ram which some people on here consider slow? Is it supposed to be 2.2 standard for this card or? I see on the MSI 5950U it's 2.0ns. I have not found many reviews on the diff brans or diff 5900's pinned against each other.
Basically which do I buy and why!?!?!?
any help is always appreciated

*edit* price doesn't matter
*edit2* NO ati cards
*edit3* welp I am about to go to bed and the best argument I got was to switch over to an ati card hehehe! maybe next time guys as for now i stand loyal to nvidia and ordered an MSI 5950 ultra

thanks for the help everyone!

Get an 9800Pro. Problem solved. Next caller?

No, seriously. I dont know anyone with an upper end FX card that was happy about buying it... between the brands though... just buy the one with the loadout you like- they should all bench the same give or take .000001%

I like BFG Tech and eVA.

I never liked MSI and don't buy cards with bundles.

BTW, I'm a happy BFG Tech Asylum Geforce FX 5900 128MB 8xAGP owner.

A simple search will find quite a few happy 5900 owners, at well under $200 it's a great value.

What's your sample group? I know lots of people with 5900s that are very happy with them.

eVGA or BFG are both good cards and 5900 is an excellent card.

And I know no one IRL that has an ATI card. Of course I'm a working adult so none of us has time to work out bugs.

I personally paid a bit more for a higher end 5900. I got a Gainward GF FX 5900 Ultra/1200XP. It's a hell of a card and I am a big fan of Gainward. It cost me $223 at NewEgg but I feel like I got a good deal on it.

Lighten up. It's just his opinion.

Sapphire 9800np ? $170:beer:

I appreciate that. I got my 9800np with my p4/2.8c for 150$ by buying, chopping and selling a Dell business machine. When I had suggested that he just get the one with just the features he wanted, I was (and still am) referring to the geforces... to each his own.

Let me introduce myself. I am keysplayr2003 and I am very happy with my upper end FX card. So much so that I bought a second one the other day for my wifes rig. So now you know someone. I can introduce you to others if you like.

eVGA 5900nu or BFG5900nu. BFG is cheaper and offers a lifetime warranty.

If i can't find a good 5900 i might just get the msi 5950 ultra

also i said NO to evga!!!!!! it is an overall low budget craptacular brand, sure for the price i might purchase it for a lower end rig or someone else's rig lol but never mine

Billy, the card I bought has 2.2nsec ramchips on it.

Product Linkage

Right now I have it clocked at 450MHz core / 900MHz memory. Earlier I had it up to 475MHz/950MHz with no artifacting during 3D testing. I am very pleased with it so far.

yea, the "lower" end bfg tech 5900nu comes with 2.2ns ram. default clock 400/850. ck
this thread to see what speed ppl are running them at. not bad for a "lower" end part

IMO, the only Nvidia brand worth buying is BFG. A lifetime warranty + 24\7 tech support that speaks ENGLISH (based in suburban Chicago) > saving a few bucks.

I am personally a huge gainward fan as they use the highest quality components and have a good experience with their service, but $40 difference is way too much. I would just get the BFG.

Plus now bfg 5900's are the cheapest available, so you are saving a few bucks.

OK, so there was a catch--it's an RMA--but still, great price. And with NewEgg, you really can't lose.

Yup makes sense dun it!? lol, actually if you look up i posted saying if i dun find a card i will just get the 5950u. I don't WANT to pay $500 for a vid card but i can. I also mean more tht the price of the 5900 doesn't matter, $160 or $223 doesn't make a difference to me
