Edit: forget the cheap civic

UPDATE
Bought the jeep wrangler
http://dayton.craigslist.org/cto/1762065594.html

Got it for 5000. New clutch, struts, body is in terrific shape except for dent in rear but panels cover it. Comes with hard top and bikini top. Everything works, I absolutely had a blast driving it in the rain, with the water proof seats. haha can't wait to pick it up tomorrow.

If it runs it's worth 200-350. If the engine/transmission are in decent shape you'll probably get a lot of use out of it though it pretty much defines "beater".

cracked windshield is a ticket waiting to happen. Price the replacement into your consideration.

4cyl
Every Time I purchase a car, I always regret not getting a wrangler. And i've seen wrangles on CL with up to 200,000 miles.

the 4cyl gets horrible gas mileage (the 4.0l i6 gets better), lacks in the performance arena and well most likely leave a bad taste in your mouth.
i would keep looking unless you really had to have that jeep.

why would you regret not getting a wrangler, it's not like they are great cars.

Wranglers are not enjoyed for their driving dynamics...they are enjoyed for their open air, go anywhere, treat them like crap and they keep running feel.

Exactly I didn't buy this wrangler for gas mileage, comfort etc etc...I would've kept my focus if I wanted that.

But man I am excited to pick up this jeep today, I'll take pictures sometime, thought I got helluva deal too for whats around in the area.

The 4 cylinder when I test drove it had enough power for me. I didn't bring it up to 70 but I can imagine it having some difficulty on hills, but it being a 5 speed, that wouldn't be an issue, dropping it into 4th.

The rubicon wheels and tires are brand new. I just hope these tires don't wear down too quickly, I bet they're expensive (160?)

The guy took out the carpet and was planning to rhino line it; should I follow up on this myself? Easy?

Well, you can't rhino line yourself but sans carpet I would suggest you finish what he started. Rhino liner is great stuff.

ALL the carpet is out, where do I go to get it rhinolined?

Also the driver side door won't pop off? The bolt is gone, so nothing is keeping it from popping off. hmm hammer and flat head?

And yes they make 4cyl. Is it slow? Very...but I didn't get it for speed. The 31" tires don't help on the high way tho, 65mph is probably max haha.

I always wondered how people don't fall out the sides of those Jeeps. Interesting choice of car.

Things on the list I need (What are known jeep accessories suppliers?):

Center console with lock
Trunk compartment cover that goes behind the seat...
Spare tire with bracket

Eventually a full soft top

Either carpet the jeep again or just have it rhino lined? I wont be taking it off road a lot at all. Suggestions?

Lastly when i put the heat to defrost, the air circulation does not vent to the defrost area?
