Boxes left on the porch

The postman delivered a case, power supply, and CPU heatsink to my front door this morning, but they were sitting out all day until I brought them in tonight. The parts are:

- Corsair AX750 power supply
- Corsair 650D case
- Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus heatsink

I have a couple of concerns:

1.) It was drizzling a bit out, and so the shipping boxes got a bit damp. I opened up the shipping box and stuff seems to be dry inside, but maybe things got wet and then dried, who knows. Would I have issues with either the power supply or case if they got wet and then dried?

2.) Although the shipping box seem intact, is there something that someone could have done to tamper with the contents without me knowing?

I haven't opened up anything yet so I still have the opportunity to RMA. I have always had great replies from this forum, so I thought I would post my concerns even at the risk of sounding paranoid.

Serious question-
Are these posts a joke or what?
Every post you've made has been about being paranoid about something.
Metal flecks/dust in your case, shocking your mouse, and "stray fibers" from q-tips, now it's boxes that did what boxes are supposed to do and wondering if someone has tampered with your boxes even though they haven't been opened.
I sincerely hope these posts are a joke, otherwise counseling/medication may be an option as this type of thinking is not normal in any way.

Someone might have been staking out your home for a few days, knowing that you had parts on the way.
They could have quickly snatched the boxes off your porch after delivery,
Carefully opened them,
Opened the PS box,
Removed the PS,
Swapped your good PS components for their bad generic 750W parts,
Resealed the packaging in a way undetectable to you,
Returned your packages to the porch.

One way to know for sure if the items have been tampered with...
* Take the sealed boxes into a small enclosed place, with no ducts.
* Open the packages very carefully, paying particular attention to any mint aroma that may be coming out of the boxes.
One thing thieves haven't found a way around is masking the mint smell from their dirty deeds.
If you don't smell any mint, you should be fine.

Oh man this thread really has me in stitches.

But the mint? I don't get that one.

My main concern would be my packages disappearing after they were delivered. Tampering is far less likely than theft.

You're fine. We once had the postman leave a $2000 gateway laptop on our porch. In the snow. In 10 degree weather. It was there for about 6 hours. In a big gateway box. That laptop lasted us for 8 years before we broke the mainboard power connector. You'll be fine.

While yes, the OP is a bit paranoid his first concern here isn't too farfetched. People are used to thinking that water + electronics = O NOES! But most of them don't think about it needing power to short out. Still... the OP isn't the only one who would be worried. Hell, even I would be at first until I saw the insides were dry.

The 2nd concern of his however is very strange :hmm:

During my college days I had a 3rd shift security job. One night I am doing my rounds and find water pouring out of the ceiling all over the computers in an office. Whoops! Not good.

Cut power. Removed PC's. Tech guy the next morning "let them dry out" a few days, then hooked them back on.

They worked fine.

Hey, maybe it'll totally get fried when you power on. Maybe a bird will poop on your face. Who knows buddy?

If you're really that worried just let sit for a few hours/days/weeks, like the above have said.

I noticed that the cardboard for the power supply was a little crinkly, like it got wet and then dried. So if I just leave it to dry out for a few days I should be good, right?

The chance it is damaged at all is about 1% just plug it in a use it, dont be paranoid, newegg would allow the RMA of a DOA item anyway.

I'm going to have to disagree with your assessment.
I'd put the likelihood of damage between 1.73%-2.31%.
But an RMA would correct the situation as you've pointed out.
