Mayweather is the best pound for pound fighter in the world. I know the guy is a cocky and arrogant prick, but damn he backs it up in a big way. I've yet to see someone even cut the guy, he's invincible.

See I cannot give him that distinction. He fights guys who are either worn out or smaller and coming up in weight.

Why does he decide now to take a two year vacation? Because if he didn't take one, he would have to fight Miguel Cotto and get his ass handed to him. He carefully picks opponents and for that very reason, he does not deserve the P4P #1 distinction.

I would tend to agree with you. I'm not sure that Cotto would hand his ass to him...but i have no doubt Cotto would probably beat him. Floyd is very careful about who he fights.

I don't know about Cotto beating Mayweather. Cotto is good, but the Mosley he beat wasn't in his prime and it was still a very close fight. I see Mayweather winning, although I hope Cotto knocks his ass out. Mayweather can't be considered invincible, and the greatest, just like you said he hand picks his opponents and refuses the fight the best. Maybe if he fought fighters like Kostya Tsyzu.

He avoided Kostya like the plague too at Jr. Welterweight. Cotto and Mosley are both better fighters than Mayweather at welterweight. Mayweather has all the skill in the world, but at Welterweight, he would not be able to hang with the big boys. They would steamroll him. He knows this himself which is why he is so careful.

I have boxing fever again though. I cannot wait for the Pavlik vs Taylor rematch. Fight of the year 2007 could be fight of the year 2008 also.

It is hard to keep your composure and cool against Hatton...he's a beast and never backs down. I love that about him.

I always get boxing fever after watching a match like this and talking about it. Same thing happened after watching Mayweather/DeLaHoya. LOL

I just wish Cortez was not on Hatton's back so much during the fight. That made it harder for hatton to keep any rhythm at all. Poor hatton had two opponents in the ring tonight.

Hatton had little rhythm imo not because of the ref, but because of when he had opportunities he couldn't take advantage of them. Mayweather kept moving and never tried to fight hatton's style, which would have opened him up more to hatton.

How long did hatton think he could keep charging mayweather relentlessly while at the same time without ever getting in solid combinations to hurt mayweather? It was obvious it was only going to be a matter of time before he left himself too open.

yeah, Cortez got out of hand. Hatton holds and clinches a LOT, but it certainly didn't warrant the interferance from Cortez tonight. Hatton did have to opponents tonight...no question.

The agressor typically loses in boxing, but Hatton stood no chance otherwise.

Mayweather relies way to much on turning around, for which he did through the first 70% of the fight.

Hatton won 3 of the rounds. Hatton was done after the 7th.

3 rounds? Where? He won one round I saw, the 5th, when Floyd was content to take the round off. Truthfully he had no business in there anyway. Hatton is lunch box type of fighter. I have been saying it for 3 years now. Floyd Mayweather is the most complete fighter of our era and only Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson were better. The only way he is going to lose is one of two ways. Father time catches him in 3-5 years or he takes a fight with a guy from an upper weight class who is just to big for him to handle. I don't care who you run out there and that includes Coto, PBF wins and he does it so easy. He's a cocky s.o.b, but he is truly great.

I can't help but think Mayweather is the best boxer I have ever seen in the ring, no matter the weight class. Scratch every win and KO, and just watch him box. Don't believe I have ever seen quickness like he has before. With the best technique I have also seen. His punches may not carry like a heavyweights, but they still get it done. Who cares how cocky he is. He is the best. IMO.

Thanks. I caught it because you bumped it.

Mayweather got the best of Hatton when he could keep him at his power distance. Mayweather landed some VERY good hard clean punches most of the match. I never saw Hatton really doing much other than hugging.
