Haha. LOL@squads.
Running as a squad is the surest way for you to get pwnt. You are slower and easier to notice.
I was manning an AT turrent on Shongua and had just blown up an APC in the distance when I notice three guys swimming towards me. I was trying to imagine these guys' squad chat as I lined them up. Funny thing is, it took two shots to kill two of them, so they had time to assess the situation, and the third got hung up on the foliage getting out of the river and I mowed him down with my M4.
Later that same round as it was winding to a close, I was speeding around in a buggy and see four guys in one of those craters. I make a B line their way and, fortunately for them, the ground was so uneven that the buggy tilted onto two tires and I only got the one unlucky sap who happened to be directly underneeth them, but I think the point was made as I didn't see any more squads around the next round.
I do, however, usually follow the squad leaders directions for attacking.
Best use I ever had for a support class was when I was the fourth man in a blackhawk. I took to tossing grenades rather than firing my little SMG. I tell ya, that worked out pretty well for everybody.
