I spent a lot of time playing AT also. I had to rely on combat points instead of teamplay points, because you don't get many team points as AT. I've been playing Assault lately instead and just seeking vehicles for protection. Assault seems to grant team points for just killing and capping moreso than AT.
The well known class for getting teamplay points is Medic, but you could also get it playing support if people take your ammo. Engineer team points seem hard to come by. Either of them will reward you well for flying with a chopper crew and resupplying, fixing, etc.
Overall, my impression is people find teamplay points most easily attained with Medic, however you're kill to death ratio may drop being medic.
Oh yeah, the bragging. I got my Distinguished Service Ribbon recently. 10 hours as Squad memeber, 10 as Squad leader, 10 as commander, and player score of 15 in 1 round.
