You really live in a selfish world and have no idea how others make it through life do you?
Many employers hire their starting classes in the fall qtr of the senior year of college. It's when recruiting starts for many business/accounting school grads. All offers are contingent upon you graduating on-time.
Rather than a gun & a safe - I would recommended you have a homeowners insurance policy with a rider for your valuables. Take photos and scans of receipts and upload them online. We carry an extra $50k for the "collectibles" and electronics which adds like $12 a month to our insurance.
Wow!
I am hardly selfish in my life. I probably give away more than people making double my income.
I dont know any real colleges that will give a student credit for working an internship unless college sponsered. Maybe I am confused with what the OP was asking though. In high school it's easier to get though.
I was burglarized to the tune of almost $50k a couple years back of which I was reimbursed a little over $30k, I understand how insurance works and I do carry coverage. Also I know how the insurance companies love denying claims and in the case of mine provided documentation that had me looking at hard limits set for tools and computer gear.
I don't think you understand sentimental value of items.
However, I am insured and updating my policies regularly. We have pictures and files of reciepts that we also back up due to having such proof paramount for a large claim.
