The beta was missing 90% of what makes a battle.net game fun, battle.net itself. The user chat rooms and clans made SC, D2, and WAR3 my favorite games of all time even though I don't play the RTS side of SC and WAR3 (I just play custom games).

None of those were fun for me, it was all about the game play. SC2 feels 10 years out of date. Odds are, I'll still pick up the game, once all three parts of it are available in a single package, but I'm not going to run out in a week to buy the game or pre-order it.

I have it pre-ordered at Amazon and I'm just gonna do the midnight launch at Gamestop then return the Amazon copy there when it comes in (didn't wanna pay for release date delivery). I locked it in at $40 after 20% off back in October 09, probably a little late for them to add a $10 promo credit, but that'd be nice.

Yeah, the game itsself is great which is awesome because its too late to fix it now... Battle.net 2.0 on the other hand sucks. They took battle.net and yeah as you say removed everything good about it, the way you join games is fooked and the interface isnt something i expected from blizzard. Also i have to play with the rest of goddamn europe?! Why?? I spent my time on USeast/USwest in starcraft 1, i dont wanna play with people who have english an a 9th language gtfo. Voice chat for your team is in starcraft 2, how the hell is that gonna work if in a 4v4 i speak english, two of my teammates are russian and theres also a clueless french guy who builds nothing but SCV's the entire game... fubar...

At least its fixable. bnet 1.0 never had gateways to begin with either. Also since the majority of games on bnet were customs its likely starcraft 2 will follow suit and they will need to change the way games are viewed/joined so new customs take off, from my understanding right now the only way you will get somone to join a new custom map is by inviting them because it will be at the bottom of the list being a new map without 1000 games/hour. This will be a problem when there are more customs available, whos gonna click "more games" 3 or 4 times and then join your new map? Nobody! They will all join "cat & mouse sc2 2010 omfgwtf version" because thats at the top of the list. Not knocking cat & mouse its fun just using it to make a point.

/endrant blizzard will fix everything and it will be great... i hope

I'm already old, and there's several other titles that all looked more interesting than SC2. Now, they have even more over SC2 now that I've played SC2.

The storyline is the old thing that's going to be able to save SC2.

im curious if the same cheat codes will carry over from SC1 in the single player mode. would be an interesting throwback.

I got into SC2 Beta, but there's nothing to brag about since it's like an insult... Just a few days before release... Also, the game sucks. It's the original starcraft with better graphics and too much emphasis on micromanagement. RUSE is a much better game.

There's actually MUCH less emphasis on micro in SC2. In fact, you can probably get into diamond league with just macro and wishing your troops good luck in battle. Many of the SC2 casters have covered this and while professional SC1 players have 200-300 APM, most SC2 pros find 120-200 sufficient.

I think that is due to beta, once the game starts to evolve and people get better there will higher apm numbers. at the start of beta, everyone was just massing M&M, now its shifting towards mech and more of a mix.

I completely agree, but I think macro will still be the key element for lower-level play. With the AI being so good at anything less than very good macro micro seems insignificant.

Is there any reason to leave the Beta installed on my computer? Obviously the Beta is over, but if I leave it installed would that make the full install quicker next Tuesday?

If I should uninstall it, I don't see an uninstaller. The only way I can even figure to get it off my computer is to do it through Add/Remove in the Control Panel. Am I missing something?

While it's possible they could release a patch to make it retail; I'm guessing that's highly unlikely.

Wow, a lot of SC2 hate, why the hell are you even reading this thread and commenting if you hate the game and will not buy it? there is a lot to look forward to with this game like 1. huge player base and hopefully good skill based match ups..2. supposed to be very moddable so a lot to look for on that front...i''ll bet the single player campiagn with Blis's great cu scenese will be awesome...
