This one is REALLY YMMV, so I decided to place it here...
There's a Quaker/Tropicana $5 MIR in grocery ads these days. I used this at a Jubilee grocery store in Minneapolis, MN combined with the following:
Buy 1 get 1 Free 16-oz. Quaker cereal
Buy 1 get 1 Free Quaker Tostables (Poptart wannabes)
Tropicana Pure Premium OJ - 2/$4
Buy $10 get 2 lbs. bananas free.
- $5 MIR per rebate conditions

Total: <$6

Ok.. sorry, I think I posted it in the wrong forum, but hopefully this one will do.

For the OM deal a week or so back with the WD HD and the Khypermedia rebate, if you've checked your status online, did anybody else get a $20 rebate from Khypermedia 48x CDRW instead of a $50 rebate?

PIC of the rebate on rebateshq.
PIC of the $50 on the rebate form.

The Canon i320 was on clearance at Office Depot for $41. The lady gave me 50% off instead of the standard 25% because it was the display model. Got it for $20. This is the printer I had my eyes on for college because of cheap ink and high quality text.

I found out the black ink cartridge is empty.

hehe, Circuit City's gonna be pissed at me for awhile

Went there to PM on a Canon Camera. $11 back to my GC.
Then I saw a printed BB add that said "WD 80GB JB for $59.99 after savings/rebate", so I told the CSR, I would like to PM that. The guy called BB hopeing they were out of stock, he mentioned "80 GB" but didn't say anything about being JB or BB, so naturally BB said they had them instock. 110% PM and it came out $51.99. Used the remaning GC balance and paid about $3 in cash out the door. Not too bad for under $1/gig JB drive. I needed a new HD for my 3rd machine as the old 20GB is beginning to fail.

Got a used MX700 from staples for $30.00

Got a clearance 19 inch NEC Multisync 97f from Sam's club for $79.00

Best of them all, Tried to go for that 160 gb deal for $80.00 from staples, didn't see that they added tax so it went up to like $90.00, refused it when it came (staples courier delivered it), the next day, UPS came in, didnt know so i got stuck with it, had someone come in to pick it up, no one came, called again, same thing, no one came to pick it up, called again and spoke to the supervisor, told her i have been waiting for like 12 business days and no one will pick it up, so the lady said , ok im making a log here for them to come pick it up this past thurs or fri, then i said if no one came, what to do next, she said, KEEP IT, COMPLEMENTS OF STAPLES, and i made sure i ask her name. Guess what, NO ONE CAME.

So I got a 160 gb Maxtor HD with 8 mb cache for FREE!!!!

Wow, baloy, and I thought I had a good deal ... oh well, I'll share anyway.

Bought the Maxtor 120GB/8MB from Best Buy in early July for $159.99-$20MIR-$60MIR=$79.99 ... Sent in both rebates the same day I got it home and installed it. The next week the price dropped to $129.99, so I went and got it PM'd, only later realizing that the BB rebate said that PM'd products are not eligible for rebates. So I'm like "Crap ... oh well, I'm still going to be ahead $10 b/c the Maxtor rebate will still work."

Much to my surprise I just received a $20 check from BB for the rebate. On top of a little over a month as a turn around (which is pretty good), I've now got $129.99-$20MIR-$60MIR=$49.99 for a 120GB HDD, which equates to about $0.42/GB ... not that bad, if you ask me!

New low for Dell:

:disgust:

When you order the new Dimension 2400 and 4600 (These are the ones I have in front of me, probably others also) without a floppy now you no longer get the floppy bracket or the floppy cable. Personally I could care less about the cable. The bracket is a different matter. They basically leave out a piece of custom metal so that you cannot mount a floppy in the computer. This is the only time I have EVER seen a computer company leave out a standard piece of the case.

Of course Dell is happpy to sell you the floppy kit through spare parts for $20.

New low for them and I already disliked their business practices. The Dimension 2300 and 4550 were not like this. Even if you did not order the floppy, you still received the bracket.

Wow - new problem with TigerDirect - something I believe is downright illegal. On Friday morning, there was a brief point where the screen stated that it was $0 before a $20 mail-in rebate, -$20.01 after.

I placed the order, figuring it would be canceled right away. But I got a confirmation for the order for $12.70 including shipping, and it shipped the same day.

The thing is - they billed my credit card for $132.69, the price of the drive for $119.99 and the $12.70 shipping. They did not notify me of a price change, and they simply just sent the drive out and decided to bill me how the felt fit to bill me. Is it just me, or is this entirely illegal. A CS rep I spoke to said that was what the price was, and that if I returned it, I would be charged a 15% restocking fee. I've already disputed with my CC company (thank God for Titanium cards) - but they only have a 14-day return period. By the time all is said and done the return period will be over ... should I send back and dispute the restocking fee, or should I fight this through the credit card company? TigerDirect doesn't seem to care at all that they screwed up majorly - I imagine some other people took advantage of this pricing error...

Hello,

I recenty received a spam message to an address known only to your company
(i.e. easierrebates2003@vallarian.com)

It is not noted in your privacy policy that you underhandedly sell off the names and email addresses of
people who submit rebate claims to bastard spammers.

That is no way to do business, and if it continues, I will contact the compaines that you do business with (i.e. officemax, etc) and
demand that they stop doing business with disgraceful and unethical compaines like yourself.

Thanks.

Just wanted to clue everyone in on a supposed glitch on this week's officedepot printed ad (from the Sunday newspaper).

I placed an order online yesterday for the 256mb pc2100ddr ram chip (needed one fast, and that was the best deal I found anywhere for namebrand ddr ram) and an "adjustable secretary task chair" (item # 536-888) that was advertised as $24.99, with a $12.02 mail in rebate, or $12.97 after rebate (nice enough price for a cheap-o chair).

My order arrived today, while I was at work, so when I get online, I go to the OD website to print out the rebate forms. No problem finding the rebate form for the ram, but lo and behold, no joy on finding one for the chair.

After an hour and 15 minutes on the phone with:
1. OD customer service, who says they can't find it either, please call the rebate center (also an 800 number)
2. The rebate center number that OD csr gave me, which says no one answers this number, call this other number (also an 800 number)
3. The second rebate center number, where, after 10-15 minutes, I finally get to talk to someone that says I have to talk to a rebate center csr that deals exclusively with OD rebates, and can you please call this other 800 number?
4. The super-special rebate center csr that deals exclusively with OD rebates, who tells me, "we don't have the rebate forms here, you'll have to call OD customer service"!!! ACK!!!! :|
5. Back to OD customer service, where I ask for a manager, and get Sheila the csr that knows for sure she can help me. Okay, it's only been about 45 minutes on the phone now, I'll be nice and see what she can do for me. Sheila looks and looks and looks, and finally says, "OH! That's an IN STORE ONLY deal!!". No, it's not, says I.......I have the ad right here in front of me, and nowhere does it say that near that item. We argue back and forth for a minute or so, then she finally tells me that she's going to call my local store and see what she can do for me. Sheila comes back about 7 minutes later, and says she spoke with the manager at my local OD, and they're going to do me a favor, and print out a copy of the mail in rebate from the register for me.
However, without a register receipt to go with that, I just KNOW it's gonna get rejected. Oh, and I either have to drive across town to pick up this useless rebate form, or they'll mail it to me (oh, and by the way, it has to be postmarked by the end of the week, in order to qualify for the rebate). She makes certain to tell me that this is a one time good deal she's arranged for me.

Gee.......uh.......thanks, but no thanks!!

I hold my temper, and tell her that while I appreciate all the hard work she's done for me, I'm still screwed. Nowhere in the ad does it say this rebate is for an in-store only purchase. The rebate form, while welcome, is useless to me. Oh, and if I had wanted to drive across town to get the stupid rebate form, I would've gone there to get the chair and the ram in the first place!!

Here's what you're going to do for me, Sheila. You're either going to provide me with an internet address where I can download and print a rebate form, or you're going to credit back my card for the $12.02 that I'm due from the rebate. She tells me she's not authorized to do that, as only a manager can do that. Gee, didn't I ask for one of those 20 minutes ago, when you first got on the phone with me?????? Why don't you go find one now, and get them on the phone?????

Finally, about 8 to 10 minutes later, she tells me that the manager has authorized her to credit back my card for the $12.02, once again, and a one time courtesy to me. Gee, Sheila, thanks ever so much for bending over backwards for me (and obviously getting your head stuck up your A$$ when you did so!!).

So........if you're looking to get one of these chairs, make sure you either have an hour and 15 minutes to argue with the OD csr's on the phone, or you just drive over to OD and pick one up in store........and save yourself the headache I had tonight!!

Gee.....maybe I'll drive over to OD tomorrow, and pick up one of those nice $12.97 after rebate chairs!! LOL

There was a hot deal posted for memory from HP. It was $5.15 for 256MB of pc2700, I ordered four. I've been keeping an eye on it and although it was back ordered I still had high hopes. Well I checked on it again and now there is no record of it and I didn't receive and email from HP cancelling my order.

I didn't think it would go through anyway but I would have liked to have been notified if my order was cancelled.

Brag:

Last week Staples had TDK 100 pack of CDRs for $5 AR. It was $40 regular price, $10 IR and $15 MIR. I went to CC who had it for $40 to do a PM. They didn't have the $15 MIR, so they PM'd the whole $35 plus $3.50 because of there 110% guarantee, giving a final price of $1.50. It may not be much, but it sure made me feel good!

Another one that I'm proud of was one that I think a lot of people did. This was back in July, I think. Microcenter had the Maxtor 200Gb HD for $280 - $120 MIR. They were the only ones who had that rebate. Fry's had the same drive for $220, but for $200 on outpost.com, each with only a $50 rebate. So I talked to the manager at Microcenter and told him that Fry's had the drive for $200...he checked outpost.com to verify the price! So he agreed to give me the drive at $200, making it $80 AR. But, it gets better. He wanted me to buy something else so he could "make up his loss". So I asked him about the ATI Radeon 9800 PRO and of course he said it was $400, regular retail price. I blurted out that I could get that online for $350 and he said that would be fine! So I used the instore coupon for $5 off and ened up paying $345 for the video card and $80 AR for the hard drive. The PMing Gods were with me that day!!

I hope this inspires others to always give it a try, you never know.
