My bank, Washington Mutual is pretty good on most things.

Speaking of that bank, I guess I have to add my own personal moan:

In Y2000, I bought my house. Applied with Washington Mutual for a loan and the bank manager and loan officer (same guy) told me it was a lock after the appraisal. I told him the house didn't have central heating, and he said that didn't matter, they'd approve. It rarely gets below freezing here, so I can live with occasional space heaters until I install central heating. I asked him before I signed if I'd get my deposit back ($250) if the loan wasn't approved. He said "yes."

Turns out higher-ups in his organization nixed the loan because the house didn't have central heating and I had to scramble to close the deal (that's another story). I never got my $250 deposit back. I implored the manager/loan officer I dealt with, but it was useless. If I didn't basically like the guy, I guess I may have taken him to small claims court. Also, I've never been in small claims court and don't like the idea of doing it. I DO bank there now (they had the best features on a checking account when I shopped for one) - try not to hold a grudge, but that didn't sit well. When I see all the Washington Mutual mortgage ads on TV, I have to groan and moan and think they are basically a lot of BS.:disgust:
That IS bizarre! I save my quarters for one purpose - laundry! Well, actually, [BRAG], I did finally install a washing machine in my house a few months back, and won't be visiting any of my local laundromats for the foreseeable future [MOAN: The last time I did my laundry in a laundromat, some slimeball came in off the street and stole my backpack off the folding table. Didn't realize it until I was ready to leave]. I'll be trading my quarter collection for bills at my branch of Washington Mutual, so they have no excuse to not give them to you. It's amazingly great to be able to do a load of laundry any damn time I please without having to leave the house. Installing the machine was a major hassle:

I thought, what's there to it? See that drain pipe? You just hang that hose over it, plug in the machine, connect the hot and cold water hoses and do your laundry! Piece of cake. Not! [read on]

Problem:

1. The hot and cold water connections in back of the machine hadn't been used in decades and once opened, they wouldn't close or they leaked out of the spigot. Solution - replace both spigots.

2. The cold water pipe's water was filthy? No biggie, run the water a while and it's clear, right? Sure, but the flow was only 1/4 the flow of the hot water, so I had to start removing and clean and/or replace sections of the pipe until I finally got far enough back to where the major clogs were.

3. The cold water piping joints leaked, and I had to buy another pipe wrench and crank and crank until the leak was finally so slow that it didn't matter.

4. Needed to buy parts and assemble a trap for the drain pipe, first needing to disassemble a 2 inch elbow that was attached to the drain pipe.

5. We're go, right? Not! Ran the machine and the drain water backed up out of the drain for some reason all over the floor. I mopped up the mess and did some research in alt.home.repair. Borrowed a drain snake fro the tool lending library in Berkeley and cleaned that sucker as far back as the snake would allow (a feat). Then the machine drained OK, but I realized that it was just a matter of time until it clogged up again so I went to Home Depot to see if they had a laundry sink that would fit in my pretty tiny laundry room. They did, but barely - 1/4 inch wider and it wouldn't have fit. I bought it, installed it. That required removing the trap I'd just installed and throwing it away and buying new parts and assembling a new trap and extending it with a special "no hub" connector. Wow! Now I had the thing installed foolproof. I'm so stoked, I do my laundry every time I have enough clothes. This is going to revolutionize the way I dress I guess.

Just got a "refurb" black Liteon XJ-HD166S DVD drive from newegg for 13.60 shipped. They must be closing these out because it's a new, unused OEM unit.

I just dont understand my obsession with pc's, its one thing after another I never stopped buying. in short i am addicted and wish I would stop upgrading unneccesarily. most of the time I end up with defective parts and have to ship back at my own convenient plus pay restocking fee, crap.
computer was a luxury in the past but today it still is except cheaper, only the rich or the upper middle class can afford them. i had fun yes, too much fun now I am glued to the pc 24hrs a day, lol.

MOAN: Compgeeks and the 9700Pro Deal

Long story short...I got in on the 9700 Pro deal for $129 at Compgeeks. They evidently mislabeled the package and sent it to New York via Fed Ex and dropped it on some guys back porch. I am "currently" out $135 and no ATI card. Of course they are out of stock with no comparable card to replace it with.

Now I get to try and get a refund which is not going as well as could be. I think I will just let the bank handle it... My last time shopping at Compgeeks...

BRAG - I got skrewed by Circuit City back on 12/17/2003 on a Western Digital 120 GB drive for $139 minus 3 $40 rebates. I sent in all 3, but 1. they changed the valid date from 12/14 (day I bought), to 12/11 on rebate YB273. I got the 2, but they claimed they never got the 3rd, YB273. Kept saying wait, wait, then said someone hacked their system and changed the date. I was promised a $40 gift card by 2 people at CC HQ, including the assistant to the Chairman. I was called back by this guy with the promise, but never came, no answer to my calls. I got back by getting a 160 GB Western for $15 after 2 rebates and yesterday me and my wife got a $50 gift card each and 3 1$ gift cards by being two of the first 100 in line at the grand opening of the Pearland, Tx store. STILL MAD AND NOT EVEN, YET!

I hate most company that are out to screw most of us. Their Customer Satisfaction is nonexistence, go with zipzoomfly, mwave, or newegg. anything with low rating or no rating at all at resellerratings.com = fraud. I've had it, got burned lately as well.
US DEPOT = scum bag, very unprofessional, like a disease.

Summer sales suck. I'm hoping to buy some hardware for my PC but every summer the sales are the pits. I thought maybe Memorial Day weekend there will be some hot deals, but nooo. Maybe Dads and Grads time, but noooo. Maybe July 4 weekend, but nooooo. It was the same thing last year. Can't some of these stores please have a "black Friday" like sale in the summer please. Please, I'm begging you, please.

Got a NEC 1765 17" LCD monitor from OM today. I had to have it transfered from another store in-state but ~ 100m away. Seemed to be some confusion over whether or not the correct model LCD was being sent. I had talked to the store first and was told that it was a display model, but it turned out to be new! Didn't get 10% off of course, but they still took a OD $10 off coupon.

Third LCD I've owned and is head and shoulders above the other two! Having glass surface is real nice. Well worth getting up at 8am on a vacation day to go shopping!

Item: Samsung 192N, 19" LCD

OfficeDepot : 475.03 (clearance)
Circuit City: 649.99 (open box)

for the reason that 'they can't price match on an open box item', Circuit City won't give me the monitor with their 110% pricematch guarantee, which i think is highly illogical, because if what they have is not an open box, the price would be even higher and they will lose even bigger money.

i think it's just a matter of me not being lucky enough to find the 'right' manager though. so if anybody wants to try, feel free to do it later today (i.e. with the next shift's manager), it's in Madison, Wisconsin.

it's a blessing in disguise for me because it prevented me from buying something i don't really need. good luck guys.

MOAN:

Has anyone else been having problems receiving Digital Dollars from Best Buy from one of their promotions? They owe me $50 worth (it is now 7 weeks from my purchase date) and all they say is that they need more time to research the issue. Their customer service number sounds like it goes to India or someother company and the people who answer the phone have no authority to resolve issues. When I asked to speak to someone who could resolve my issue they refused and said all they can do is send emails.

If anyone is considering purchasing an item from Best Buy based on their "promise" of a receiving a reward in Digital Dollars, consider my experience as a fair warning.:|

Moan: I ordered Arctic Alumina from SVC for some incredible price like $2.00. Well it came delivered in a destroyed envelope with a sheepish apology from USPS. There was nothing in the envelope at all. Since SVC didn't purchase insurance and it came First Class it's up to SVC to rectify the situation right? Wrong. They won't even answer their emails. I've ordered hundreds of dollars before from them and they are willing to lose my business over a lousy $2.00.

Next time I'm sticking with Directron or Newegg. Eeesh.

EDIT: SVC just got back to me, they are sending another one. I would have preferred an answer before a week had passed but oh well. Hope this one makes it.
