BRAG and MOAN both..

BRAG first : Had my 8500LE just crap out on me out of the blue. Was under Future Shops warranty and after some convincing the clueless rep that the 9600SE wasn't really comparable/better than the 8500, they gave me a 9800 pro for it! (the next best card they had in store).

MOAN: On coming home, installing vid card found out mainboard had died

moan:

bought one of those flexible keyboards from compugeeks

let alone being a pos product (definitely needs to be usb not ps/2, well the pins broke rather easily/quickly within a couple weeks, I was doing diagnostics on couple comps at the time and probably changed the keyboard from comp to comp about 10 times. I never was overly forceful though.

Regardless, the thing had a warrenty on it, I tried contacting compugeeks 2-3 times

and I never got a response so I just threw the thing out and said to hell with it.

Brag: So I tried to cancel my Cox High Speed Internet

I needed to save the money, and avoid temptation, so that I could pay off a credit card quicker.

I was paying 50 a month for internet, and 20 a month for two ultima online accounts. I cancled all that, expecting to save the 70, and tuck it into a savings account. I didnt have cable TV.

Well, a lady from Cox called me, and to entice me to stay, I now have my full 4Mb/s down, 512k/s up, and cable tv for $37.00 a month.

Not sure if that would work for everyone, but you might give it a try. Just make sure that you cancle the work order to turn off your internet before its to late. if no one calls because you may then have to pay that 30 buck setup fee, which the lady also waived, for setting up my cable tv.

Anyways I feel like a dirty rotten bastard, but I am extremely happy now.

BRAG:

i bought these 2 benches from amazon.com a couple weeks ago

original price as best i recollect 150 or more each

i paid

$67 each

67x2= 134

and i used a coupon for 25$ off 125

so 134-25= 109

amazon's free shipping of course

anyhoo, the next week they lowered the price to $50 each

so, i called their 800 customer service number to request a price match,
expecting only to get $9 back

well well well, they apparently didn't pay attention to the coupon or whatever
so they gave me 17$ back each

67-50= 17

17x2= $34 back to my credit card

so, 2 glider benches for $75

WOOOO HOOOO

i was fvcking extatic

thanks amazon........................................SUCKERS..............

I got a 120 GB 7200 RPM WD External Hard Drive for $40 AR

I saw the post in the other thread about the External 120 GB Hard Drive in the other othre thread for $70. I called Office Max to reserve one, but when I went to pick it up the clerk had reserved a 80 GB External at the desk for me. He went back to see if there were anymore left on the shelf and, of course, there were none. He then proceeded to get the manager to go into the "lock up" to pull one of them out for me. The Manger did find one in the lock up and gave it to the clerk. He rang it up and the computer said $190 something, but he did a price overide for the $70. He couldn't understand why it didn't come up as $70 originally, but it didn't seem to bother him. When he printed out the recipt, a $30 MIR came with it, so my final total will be $39 + tax on $69 for a 120 GB WD External USB 2.0 HD.

Cliff Notes:

1)Reserved HD on sale at Omax
2)Clerk put 80 GB behind desk; 120 GB OOS
3)Manager pulled another 120 GB HDD out of "Lockup"
4)HDD Rang up as $190~ but clerk changed oprice to $69
5)$30 MIR printed out

MUAHAHA!! sorry for the evil cackle but this was a good one.

Outpost.com/fry's had the 9800 pro all-in-wonder video card for sale this laborday weekend for $179.99 +tax +s/h. This was going to equal around $201 for everything. The problem was, this was a white box special, as in OEM. Some people were reporting flaky cards when they picked them up from the store.

I, never one to miss a deal I spot, decided to try and do a pricematch. Called Staples up Friday evening and had them price match. I was afraid the CSR would notice it was white box. Told me she had to check with her supervisor. Was on hold for half an hour and she came back saying her supervisor informed her that she had to send the order information to corporate for a pricematch approval.

She sent it in and told me it woud take up to 48 hours for a call back. Since it was Friday evening and wouldn't reach corporate by Tuesday, it might not be till Thursday before I got word back.

I kept my fingers crossed and this morning, Tuesday morning, I got the call. It was approved! Of course they still had to charge me tax and shipping but that was no biggie.

So the break down on my order confirmation looks like this.

$453.99 (Original price)

$162.49 (Unit Price after price match and 10% difference)

+$25 (reward check)
-$25 (for reward check coupon)
+$13 tax
-------------------------------------
Total $175.49 shipping before check.

Will be $150 after the reward check comes in tomorrow and I cash it!!!!!!

muahahahahah!!!!!

This is right on the heels of getting a set of Logitech 5.1 z-680 speakers for $156 shipped after a price match and 2x 200 GB Maxtor IDE hard drives for $124 shipped.

Good gawd I love staples and their pricematches and coupons.

Case-mod.com - dont buy from them.

I have not received my package yet - was 2-3 day priority mail, ordered Sunday 29th of August. It is Wednesday Sept. 08.

They do not tell you if they put something you bought on backorder - website doesnt get updated. I called, and they said that since they were expecting a shipment in 2 weeks, they didnt update their website. So... Thats bullpoop because the consumer doesnt know they are waiting 2 weeks for part of their order.

BTW i ordered: Sleeving kit - black, 2x Red Round IDE cables.

Cust support dont sound very knowledge-able over the phone, and were not very helpful.

I thought they might have been a decent store becasue they have a decent range of items, at decent prices. I was wrong. Not buying from them again.

If you do purchase from them, call them up to make sure they have that item in stock; and get ready to wait 6-8 days for a 2-3day shipping.

Brag - Not that anyone here cares about this kind of thing, but I went to REI today and picked up a pair of these for $30.38.

REI was clearing out used/broken stuff and these didn't lock right and were missing the baskets. After tinkering with them for 10 minutes I got them working properly. Now I just need a $4 set of baskets and I have a brand new pair of trekking poles.

Yay me!

MOAN: x2

1. Saw that the BBA x800xt PE was instock at best buy went to go pick it up and..."Sorry sir the computer shows we have 4 in stock and we are unable to locate them." It turns out some stupid dimwit scanned the dummy boxes as actual product.

2. Completely added to my cart a 90nm AMD64 and mobo and fan but when I go to pay for it Monarch updated their price for the cpu with an extra $65 bucks.

I can't catch a break

BRAG:

This week, Office Max had a sale on D-Link G wireless router for $29.99 (after $20rebate). I went to my Office Max in South Philadelphia, and it did not have any. They wanted to substitute this with a Netgear or Linksys, but none was available. They had to give me a raincheck. When I went to pick it up yesterday (Saturday), they gave it to me for $29.99 (+tax) out the door, and the cash register printed out a rebate coupon for $20! When all is done, I will have purchased this G router for $12 or so (including tax).

Brag:

Fry's had a awesome deal on Dust-Off compressed air blowers at 2 for $1.99! Even though the salesman at the computer section gave me some bs about 1 limit per customer, so to test them out I went ahead and brought 3 bundles of two each to the register--no hassle about one per customer. After that, I visited two different Frys and nabbed about 2 1/2 dozen of them amounting to 30 cans!!!!!! for about $30!!!!!!
They now sit beautifully aligned in room : D

I ordered a Thermalright XP-90 heatsink (great results with it) from Frozencpu dot com, and upon recieviing it I found it in subpar conditions. A bunch of the top fins were bent in multi-direction and it took me over an hour to try to set them straight--very very pissed. I expected my shipments to be in perfect condition, but appearently Frozencpu dot com doesn't care for details and careful handling of their products.

I'll never buy from them again.
