MOAN: newegg seems to be going downhill lately, especially their refurb section. Back in the days, I could get a nice $120+ aluminum case for around $60, now it's only a few bucks cheaper than the retail price - I remember when they used to have the Aopen A600 for $55, now it's $92, WaveMaster went up to $120 from around $90 Plus, they are charging shipping on everything.

MOAN: why did newegg have to get a warehouse in NJ. I'm glad I get things a bit quicker now, but they were always REALLY quick shippers anyway. It cost me 80 bux extra to order my stuff the other day. Don't get me wrong, tax is tax and I get it, but man, I wish they had just picked PA or NY or something.

It's hard affording new PC parts as a college student.

I went in on the $129 9800 a month ago. when I got the card, it was artifacting like crap. Spent a total of $20 in shipping it back and forth, and all they give me is a CREDIT NOTE that ONLY LASTS 6 MONTHS!!! Gimme my F*CKING MONEY BACK A$$HOLES!!!

About 8 months since WD 200gig 200$ rebate ordeal. Still no rebate just passing the buck to and from Dell/WD.

If you surf the dell mail in rebate forum there are tons of customers up in arms. no rebates, wrong rebate amt., some been waiting 10 months.


I lucked out with one of their desktops but based on 8 months of chasing the WD200 rebate and HOURS of time lost have got to say anyone that buys dell better think about the very realistic possibility of waiting and calling and writing not only Dell but the FTC, BBB, TX attorney general and US postal inspector.

I am now also requesting a credit card chargeback based on fraudulent and deceptive business practices.


Good luck if you buy Dell with a rebate enticement, it like "shooting crap" with a "crap company" in this respect.

BRAG: This is probably one of the best finds I've ever made. It's even better that the Sound Blaster Audagy I got for $20 just a mont after they were released. I went to the Salvation Army today and found a Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 for only $5.

Not shipping on "everything." I ordered a firewire card from Newegg yesterday, $18, free shipping. Ever since I started buying from them (around 4 years ago), they've seemed pretty whimsical about their shipping charges. Kinda like some guy has a sense of humor or something. Like, let's charge them $5 for this one, send them this one free, whatever. I guess maybe the thing is they don't ship free nearly as much as they used to. I don't shop there enough to have a real feel for this, though. I just needed a firewire card and went there mainly for the reviews and found a card that wasn't too expensive, had good enough reviews and was pretty price competitive, so I bought it.

I bought the WD 120 8 MB cache drive from Dell with $100 rebate, must be 1.5 years ago now or so. It was a smoking hot deal then and there was much confusion and long threads but I got my rebate OK. Dealing with Dell can be very confusing and exasperating because they are so huge. YMMV is an understatement with Dell!!! So far, I've made out OK on all my deals with them but barely (maybe 4-6 deals). Their prices sometimes are/were unbeatable. One time I had an RMA set up and a delivery company was supposed to pick up the monitor on a certain day. They never came. Meantime I decided to keep the thing because it's problem seemed petty compared to most people's.

F'in Office Depot/Amazon: They took my order for the never to be seen MUVO, CHARGED my card, and then 3 days later (after it said it SHIPPED) said it was backordered. Okay this is just wrong.

I decided I didn't want to wait for the freebie downloads for Mandrake Linux 10.0 for AMD64. I also thought "what the hell, I'll help support an outfit making a nice product". So I got on their direct store, and order me a copy on disk. $120.32 seemed a little step for a distro, but again, I figured it's for a good cause and I'd like a hard copy without the hassle.

Imagine my surprise when my Debit Card gets dinged to the tune of $12032.00!!!

Now, I'm a patient individual for the most part, and I understand that someone just screwed up and didn't hit the decimal point when entering numbers. Fine, my bank's cool and they immediately see what happened and can correct in 5 business days. Granted it sucks cause it's 7 days of no cash, since my bank account is a little overdrawn.

Well, today I received my TWELVE THOUSAND DOLLAR operating system... and it's the wrong frickin' version! They sent me a stale copy of 9.2 for 64bit instead of the 10.0 that it says on the receipt the disks came with.

Man. I hope they write code better than they enter numbers or pack stuff.

Ya know, I was a little disappointed that I couldn't talk to an actual human at Mandrake. No numbers listed anywhere. I did FINALLY get a "yeah, we know there's a problem with the credit card charges, sorry..." -type e-mail. Maybe it's just me but if you overcharged someone ELEVEN GRAND wouldn't you try and make just a little effort to show you give a s***?
