I got a sun v20z for free!
2x opteron 244
2GB DDR333
1x73GB 10k SCSI disk

They were giving away free v20z's with a 1 year subsrciption to JES here
I only had to buy one licence for a total cost of $100...
with shiping and tax the total came to $139.15. Not bad for a server that retails for~$3500
They seem to have changed it now so you have to buy at least 1000 licences but you might still be able to get the deal through a local reseller.

I was at my girlfriends lockout for her band, and I noticed 2 girls having a very hard time moving these speakers to the dumpster. I walked over and offered to show them how to lift it properly and did it for them . I then noticed the speakers were in perfect condition, and the polimer cones weren't even warped. I told em that htey should keep it, but they declined. I give them some music recording hints and good places to buy used gear. I went ahead and put the speaker in my car. A bit later, I noticed an OLD vintage piece of music equipment. I picked it up, and didn't think much of it. A week later, I looked it up on the web and it was a SP-1200. A $1500 piece of vintage equipment that is in demand, since it has that 'old skool' sound that can't be replicated today. SCORE.

Dell 2001FP has a line up the screen from the bottom to near the top. Oh joy, an RMA on a $600+ piece of hardware. Yay...

The OC Register online stopped carrying the Fry's ads. Really bummed because their ads were much larger on the OC Register site than on the LA Times site or paper. Sometimes even the items shown were different.

Real drag. . . . .

VISIONTEK SUCKS!!!!!

just wanted to warn everyone here to NEVER buy anything from these wahoos. if you have a problem you'll never get anyone on the phone - the only phone number on their web site takes you into a phone system loop that eventually hangs up on you without ever giving you a way to get transfered to a real person - believe me, i've tried it multiple times and it just doesn't work!
I purchased a flash drive that i wanted to return as it didn't work as a bootable drive as advertised, i sent it back usps priority mail, and after three weeks they continue to give me the runaround and claim they haven't received it. i know they did. so, i'm out $40 bucks. stay away!!!!

COOLERGUYS SUCK!!! STAY AWAY!!!

these guys are a real fly-by-night mom and pop operation. as near as i can tell they are running the business out of their home and only a few people run the store. i purchased a vga cooler and returned it three weeks ago, they promised me a credit within 10 business days (why so long?!!!). it has now been 15 business days and no credit. i've emailed them three times in the past week and received no reply; i called on thursday and the lady who answered said the support guy wasn't there but promised he'd call me back by the end of the day. no surprise he didn't. i called again yesterday and nobody answered at all. i'm guessing i'm about to get screwed out of $30. STAY AWAY!!!!!

Date Rape!!!!!!!!

I had had a few things in my newegg basked for the longest time and I see a price change all the time. It seems to keep getting higher. Newegg's service and shipping options are the best but I am starting to question the price.

Also, I did a testamonial for newegg and they send me a gift set, including 3 things.
1. Intel Bunny
2. Newegg Watch
3. Newegg Wallet

All which are capsle toy quality, did any one else receive these?

Been on an upgrade binge for the last month and while it was not my goal, I ended up upgrading
my entire system.

Every single item was bought thru Hot Deal except for one item that I bought in FS/FT

Dell 2001FP, $705 with tax, shipped
Refurbed Dell 8300 P4 3ghz , 800fsb, 120gb sata, 512mb PC3200, used a slew of coupons $375 shipped
Geforce 6800 OC, bought at BB .. $245 w/tax , included full verison of FarCry
Logitech Z3 speakers under $7 after rebate shipped
Lite-On DVD-RW , 8X ..$83 w/tax -$10 price match a week later $73 - $100 rebates = made +$27!
Bytecc aluminum external 5.25" housing , firewire and USB 2..looks like it was never used, $30 shipped from FS/FT area...got this for the Lite-On DVD-RW so I can use it on both my PCs.

Talley it all up ..$1335 for a loaded system.

(I guess I need a new mouse/keyboard and desk to make it a 100% upgrade )

I got a 9800 Pro for 75$ when they retailed for 400$

Backstory: I got a friend who's uncle upgrades constantly (Lots of money I guess...) He got the XT about 2 weeks after getting the Pro (he realized there was better, he wanted the 256 MB) - I went over and jokingly said "Wow you got a 9800 Pro just sitting around, what do you want for it?!". He said "75 Bucks".. My wallet flew outta my pocket.

MOAN!!!

WTF is wrong with Newegg these days. I placed a order on the 10/25 and they still haven't shipped it as of the this morning. They are giving some lame excuse about problems in one of their CA warehouses. Have they forgotten that Anandtech, Plumpwallet and HardOCP made them great. The same three can also break them if their service goes in the crapper.

I'm Pissed

A while back I went to the local Super Kmart and noticed they were selling off all their computer software. In with the bunch were 4 boxed copies of WinXP Home upgrade edition for $19.99 so I grabbed all of them. Went back a few days later and they had more so I grabbed all fo them again. Every few days they would put more out. In total I bought 8 and my bother got 7. We sold each one on ebay for $70+. Bought a Kodak DX7440 digital camera so basically Kmart bought me a digital camera

Not sure why they had so many copies of WinXP. They were covered in dust so Im guessing they found it buried in the back somewhere after they were told to sell everything off cheap.
