Brag!!!!

JCPenney.com had a pricing error on the morning of 11/12/04 on the Dockers leather jacket seen here...
link

I happen to be surfing their site when I noticed it was priced at $14.99
So, since I had the free shipping coupon, I figured if it was a typo and not actual leather, I would simply return it and lose nothing.

A few minutes later, after placing my order, I noticed the price corrected to $149.99.

I have several male family members that usually get gloves for X-Mas.
So, I ended up ordering them a New Leather Jacket.
Hope it comes through.

As I was about to post this on this board, my laptop battery died. being without a charge at the moment, I had to wait until I arrived home.

UPDATE
I just got the shipping confirmation today.
Almost $1800.00 in Jackets (12 in all) for under $192.00.

WOOO HOOO!!!!

Here is my original order recap...

Moan: ATI refuses to honor their HL2 Promotion! They sent me an e-mail claiming the offer didn't begin until October 25th, 2003 when I sent the form on the 23rd and even Best Buy had a card saying it was till 1/1/04. I don't have time to take them to small claims, I still have the form where they said "send your UPC of a 9600<->9800pro bought after October 1st". Companies shouldn't change things after the fact to try and screw customers.

I was in the market for a Gigabit switch so I got in on the Buy.com SMC deal that was listed here on the forum last week. I ordered before Buy.com updated their website to indicate the item was out of stock.

I decided to wait it out and see if the item came back into stock. I was just about to cancel my order last Friday when I received an email stating the item shipped. That's nice I thought.

Well, I came home from work today and received two boxes from Buy.com. Only expecting one box I thought to myself, "what's with the second box???"

Well, it turns out, they shipped me two identical 5-port gigabit switches with jumbo frame support. :Q:Q

Two 5-port gigabit switches for $62 after rebate...

Not a bad deal at all

Moan:
Seagate and Outpost have been screwing me over royally. I bought a 160 GB drive last month and sent in 2 rebates, 1 for $50 and another for $10. I only have been notified that the $10 rebate has been received, I have gotten no news on my $50 rebate that I sent in a few weeks ago.

Also, I bought another 160 GB drive from them last week, it was $50 after a $50 rebate. So I get the drive and there is no rebate form, and the link posted in the forum says its for a 200 GB drive! What gives? I KNOW I saw the rebate on the website. Man I'm getting screwed $100 from these two companies.

Moan:

I got the Mad Dog rebadged NEC 2500A from Office depot for 89.99 with 40 buck mail in rebate. Rebate asked for UPC, reciept, rebate form. Simple enough, no? So I put everything into an envelope and mail it off. Got an email back stating they recieved it and I could track it at their site. At first it said 'award cancelled' or somesuch, so I emailed the rebate center stating that I fufilled all their requirements and asked about my status. They emailed me back saying that my status has been corrected to 'Your rebate is valid and is scheduled for final processing.' It's stayed this way since August - when I emailed them again about the status they emailed me back stating 'Thank you for your rebate inquiry. We do apologize for the delay. Because your issue requires further research, your email has been forwarded to a special team. We are working hard to research your issue and will respond to you as quickly as possible.' So now I'm just kind of dangling without any recourse. :[

lame.

Rebates are not a scam. As long as you read the fine print you'll get your rebate..people who don't probably just did something wrong.

Office Max's rebate website (where you can supposedly register your rebate purchases for faster rebates) is totally slammed. I'm waiting for literally minutes between pages.

The only rebate over the last 5 years that I have not gotten back was from PNY for some PC133 memory.

Maybe it is just because I make photocopies of everything (reciept, UPC, rebate), mail it with delivery confirmation, file everything in a large manilla envelope, and mark the calendar according to the maximum date (if 6-8 weeks, 8 weeks out from mailing) for when I should recieve the rebate.

If I haven't heard from them by that time, I start calling them up (thanks to the photocopy of the rebate with the phone number).

Brag (actually I should probably be ashamed )

Went to Fry's and picked up the Duron 1.6 combo and the AMD64 3200+ combo (along with 512 MB Kingston HyperX memory and other items). At the checkout I decided to split it up, paying credit for the AMD Combo and miscellaneous items, and cash for the Duron combo and memory. The sales woman acted like it was a huge hassle and gave me a hard time about not getting seperate quotes at the computer department. She finally went back and printed out a seperate quote for the Duron and memory and said she would just not ring up the items on the original quote. So, off she went to get the stuff from the cage and came back with it all at once. Everything was rung up and she stuck it all in the sack and I payed with my credit card.

Now she started with the cash purchase and proceded to go back and get the items (Duron and memory) that was on the quote. While she was gone I realized that she already got the items once and put them in the first sack. She came back with the second Duron and second HyperX memory, rung them up, and put them in a seperate sack. I paid and walked out with a free Duron processor and a free HyperX memory module.

I know some would say I should be ashamed, and in some ways I am. However, after standing in line for about 45 minutes to get in the store and another 1 1/2 hours in line to check out, not to mention I let the computer department rep talk me into the more expensive combos (a Soyo MB for the Duron and an MSI MB for the Athlon64), I couldn't talk myself out of passing it up. This is the first time I have ever let a cashier make a mistake.

lol, why the hassle? you may save a little more then buying at pricewatch or online merchant. but why bother? not that I am lazy but it's just not worth my time and frustration. time is money, money should be spent wisely. people like you are trying hard to save but why got to have brand names to be happy?
it is nothihg more then a promotional sales that if they don't sell well after some have bought with rebates, good luck getting your discount after 2-3 months later.
there is no such thing as a free meal, think about it. 1+1=3? where's the other 1?

you should not feel ashamed. you should feel proud.. the world does care about your honesty or their honesty, if you can get away with it, why not? only the idiots would tell them otherwise..
actually i would say that is pure luck, you deserve it lol. Not that I would recommended people taking stuff put it in their thick jacket and walk out but it's an honest theft

What you have gotten is nothing compared to how much the IRS have robbed us of our taxes dollars or the broker in a firm making more money then you can in 50 years of your entire working life.
why? because people in general are sheeps, they will follow one another and won't even know they been robbed.
there are a few people complaining about it but the rest are just clueless, it would take at least half of them bitching, before we see a chang.e.

Yes, because I have no problems getting rebates, I must automatically be an evil merchant/spammer.

Or am I just someone who actually has the intelligence necessary to fill out a rebate form?

give it a rest RobCur, do you think that every business giving out rebates is in on a conspericy to steal your money? Dont think so...

I've gotten every one of my rebates i've sent in, ranging from PNY, BestBuy, Officemax, and Staples. I've had no problems and have always recieved my money within 6 weeks.

Stop being so arrogent, we are not spammers/evil merchants because we recieve the mail-in-rebates we sent out. You should be considered a troll for saying so anyways.

Also, you say that everything is cheaper on Pricewatch or something anyways, but look at the BFG deal from BestBuy. A 6800 oc, HL2, and Farcry for $250 after mir. A $300 card, $40 game, and a $55 game for $250. I want you to find that as cheap online. It's not a hassle to me. Sure, it's a bit out of the way, but 5 minutes of my time is worth $105.

Yes, 5 minutes! Make a copy of your proof of purchases, fill out the form, put them in an envolpe, and mail them! WOW!!!!!! So easy, that yes, even a 5 year old could do it (...well, except for RobCur...)!!!!!!!

peace
