[MOAN]
This a general purpose moan about everybody (or a business) that offers good prices on the item you are looking for to get your attention, then sticks you with unreasonably high shipping cost to recoup some of thier money.
Liberty Tech Inc near Austin, Texas does a lot of business on eBay. That's how I found them. I won a few of their auctions a few months back (like four auctions within a couple of hours of each other) for USB WiFi adapters, and other small items. I got each for the minimum bid of about $5 each, a good price. Liberty Tech Inc didn't want to combine shipping at first, and wanted to charge $11 each in shipping. I objected, and they eventually agreed to ship all for about $20 or so. I don't have the exact numbers because eBay won't let me view auctions from more than 60 days back, and my memory for those details isn't great, but it's accurate enough numbers for this example. Anyway, I got the items I wanted, at a good price, even if shipping was a bit of a rip-off.
Today, I found an old Logitech wireless keyboard receiver in my garage (forgot I even had it) and tested it with one of the newer Logitech wireless keyboards I have; it worked as good as the newer version of the receiver! I started thinking about all the cheap Logitech & Dell wireless keyboards that didn't have receivers I saw on eBay a while back, and that I could get one for this receiver. Well, Liberty Tech popped up with exactly what I wanted for $5 (by it now), but they wanted to charge $10.99 for shipping, on a used keyboard. Huh???
I wrote them this email:
Can you come down on the shipping some. $10.99 is a lot for a keyboard. If it was shipped via USPS, it would only cost about $4. If you can reduce the shipping to $6 or less, I'll take one. Please let me know. I would like to pay $10 - $11 total for the keyboard.
Their first reply:
Hi,
No. The keyboard was already cheap.
Thank You,

My Reply:
I understand that the keyboard is cheap. The two prices are independent of each other unless you are overcharging on the shipping to make up for the low price of the keyboard, and that would hardly be honest business. All I'm asking is that you use a cheaper shipping company than whoever quoted you $10.99 for a 1 lb package. When I ship something that I sold on eBay, I charge the buyer actual shipping cost. That's all I'm asking here. What do you say?
Thier answer:
Hi,
If you do not agree with our listing, please do not buy or bid.
Thank You,

Anyway it degraded past this point when I said:
Ha, I see that Customer Service is not very high on the priority list. Can't wait to post this in the Not-Hot Deals forum.
And they said:
Sure, go ahead man.
Thank You,

Anyway, maybe it's just me, but overcharging on shipping to make up for a low price just sucks.
