Just a word of warning here about ebates.com. They are trying to screw me outta a 40 buck rebate from ehobbies.com, by saying I didn't go through their site first. This is total BS. Their tracking software screws up and they blame me. Anyone else gotten screwed by ebates.com and more importantly, did you figure out a way to get them to give you your money?

Whoa has this board changed! More than a year ago, it was deals like that that constituted the majority of hot deals on this board.

I have only been here 6 months but I think these forums have become quite restrictive. I understand that the hot deals forum is for hot deals, but sometimes pertinent info to hot deals should be allowed to surface in new threads. The mods' job is difficult and by all means they should lock all the questions and referral posts. But I think that information shouldn't be locked up. Well that's my beef, cuz i hate to see these great forums to head downhill..

Update one the ebates situation. After a couple emails back and forth, I sent ebates my email reciept for my purchase at ehobbies, and the CSR credited my account the correct amount. I was very impressed with ebates customer service.

Just a word of warning when using ebates, do not open any new windows, by right clicking on a link, when doing ebates. I am pretty sure that this is why ebates said I did not go through their site when ordering. Also, if the ebate percentage goes down between time of order and when it shows up at ebates, email ebates customer support and request the full percentage that ebates listed when you placed the order.

i see that best buy has the voodoo 3 3000 pci/agp for _$69.97_ (after $30 rebate). why didn't i wait? VA has YET to send me my $50 rebate... all this for a comp that's not even hooked up! i've learned my lesson

I have to let this out. I turned a moan into a brag.
MOAN:
A few years ago, before the 56K modem standards had solidified, I bought a 33Kb USRobotics modem with the promise that it would be software upgradable to 56k. I like a complete fool assumed that since it would only require a small bit of software they wouldn't charge more then say $10, max $20. (Maybe free like a bios upgrade.) Of course this was a clever(not that clever) marketting gambit. Of course they have you by the b*lls once you buy the hardware. The only place you can get the upgrade is directly from them. And they wanted $60 !!! for it. And the street price of a new 56kb USR modem was only about $100!!!

So, my mission was clear, get a new modem for the price of the software upgrade.

So far: 3Com travel alarm clock (they ran out of watches, HP930c/e-stamp deal (here's to hoping the rebate comes through) BTW I sent mine certified and they did sign for it. Mini Maglite, 50 700 MB CDRs for ~$4.00. That keychain radio bookmark finally got here, not sure what i'll do with it. Where's all the damn T-shirts? Been here maybe a month.

i got an email from buy.com saying i owe them $50 or i need to return the 8 port dlink switch i got from them. its not my fault they didnt check to see if their coupon worked correctly. im fairly sure that i dont have to return it if i dont want to, but what are my options here? if this were a good store like mwave i wouldnt hesitate, but since buy.com are jackasses and have screwed so many ppl over, i figure its something like my duty as a consumer to screw them right back. what do you guys think?

I am curious... Do I have ANY course of action or pressure I can put upon a company which has a Guarantee and Promise listed on a web site and does not uphold this Gurantee and Promise??? What types of places can I report such business practice at? any adivice/help/ money that anyone can privide would be most interesting/helpful
