Just ordered the 'Where the Wild Things Are' figure set including book (The McFarlane set that is) from AnotherUniverse (now Fandomshop.com). It was Onsale this morning at $50.

I called them up and had them change my address so that their catalogs would be sent to the proper place and while I was at it, I asked if I could use the usually coupon code that came along with the Catalogs ($10 off $50 order). After going back and forth a little (cause he can't give out coupon codes over the phone, and I didn't want to chance not getting the item on sale) we agree to do the order over the phone WITH the code.

My final cost after S/H is $47.31
No more than 10 minutes after ordering, I went back to the site and noticed that the Set is no longer onsale!

Phew! Just got in on that one.

Best hot deal is to find friends that work in stores that can buy stuff for a discount.

Second best is to actually work there yourself, which is infinitely more legal.

Tip of the day: work at technology stores as they give you stuff at cost. CDs and Movies? Not much off. Computer? A bit. Car stereo and audio equipment. HECK YEAH!!! Nearly half price at most major retailers.

Nikko - It does say on the rebate form, that once 6-8 weeks has passed, to call 800.624.5545.

THE GOOD NEWS: EAGLE FREIGHT brought my TV on time per appt. from 800.com.

THE BAD NEWS: I think they must have dropped it on it's head. The two guys delivering it were weaklings. They were struggling with it the whole way to my front door. They had to rest like 3 times, coming up the front walk. They just left it inside the front door and gave me the paperwork to sign. I had a friend here to help me set it in place, so I let those little ^%^&amp;$ run home to mama. Unpackaging it, I find a 3 inch long crack along the top corner on the side. And it's so bad that the whole corner on the front facing is buckled. Anyone else have to call for a replacement for one of these behemoths yet? Since they are out of stock. It will probably be a while, so I'm going to set it up and see if it will work in the interim....*SIGH*

I called 800.com right away and the CSR was very apolegetic for the awful delivery service. He said they will replace it as soon as they can, they are on order from Sony at the moment. He then said they would try to get one for me even quicker than their stock replenishment order and that he was going to knock more $$$ off my order total for my trouble. That's cool, IF it goes down that way...we'll see.

Rant - Don't you hate it when a company offers a rebate then falls off the face of the earth ? I never did get my Digital Research rebate (40X CDROM from Staples) before they went MIA. Ditto for MIPS Dataline, which magically became another entity but without the fiscal responsibility. Smells fishy to me !

Kudos - To CompUSA. When MIPS Dataline vanished, I called CompUSA (where I bought the stuff) CS to see if they had an updated contact number. The CS rep instead offered to pay the rebate on their behalf and I received a check within a few weeks. Unexpectedly awesome.

I guess this is the forum to do this. I recently purchased 2 pentium 200 MMX chips from Spartan Technologies (www.SpartanTech.com) because they were the only ones I could find carrying the chip. Well, one of the chips worked at 200Mhz, and the other one didn't. It kinda looked like the surface was tampered with, and I suspected that the chip was remarked because it would run perfectly at 166Mhz, but never loaded the OS at 200Mhz. I took this up with the company and they told me they would never &quot;knowing sell remarked chips.&quot; So I figured &quot;it's all good&quot; and sent it back for a replacement. I called two weeks later and they said they had no &quot;in house&quot; pentium experts so my chip was probably sent somewhere else to be looked at. I kept calling every week (midterms were around otherwise I woulda called every day) but they kept giving me the run around about how &quot;so and so&quot; was in charge of the that but he's not here, or &quot;I'll look in to it and call you back&quot; (which never happened). Finally, 6 weeks later I sent out 3 emails threatening to send 10 more everytime they didn't respond, and I get representative back to help me. He informs me that they never received the CPU. Now it's way to late to file my claim with the Post Office because I'm only given 15 days after the package was sent to do so. Ellaborate cover up or just plain stupidity and lack of help on their part???

Also finally got 128MB of PC133 for $55 shipped from tufshop.com. Was shipped UPS ground for $11 which sucks but it did finally arrive and works perfectly on my old PII mobo. Very good price and I didn't have to screw around with rebates ect...

Here is my story... I buy the Fuji MX 2900 for the Deal of the Day. I get my camera, open it up, and what do I see? The box has not only be already opened, but the camera lens as FINGERPRINTS all over it! Not only that, but the AC adapter is also missing! That was late OCTOBER. So I send that mofo back, and I wait a week to check up on the replacement. Hmmmmm guess what, they didn't do squat! &quot;What? You sent us that? Oops!&quot; So they make me file some lost shipment BS form, and I wait a little longer. Today I call, a month after I return the stupid camera, and gee, THEY STILL HAVEN'T DONE SQUAT!

I'm so mad at Buy.con! Now I don't give a flying f*** if they go under or not. They have inept customer service. What a bunch of idiots!

Just called Quantum myself and it's the old &quot;due to unanticipated demand BS&quot;. It took them almost 7 weeks to &quot;enter&quot; the rebate into their system and they said it would take another 6-7 before I saw my check. Looks like the 6-8 weeks standard is turning into 10-12 weeks. Just got told the same thing by Kingston on their $50 rebate.

I ordered 2 sticks of Mushkin's 128MB PC133 Rev 1.5 chips yesterday, and today I get an email stating that they were out of stock of the Rev 1.5 chips so for the inconvience they are sending me Rev2 chips instead. This is the best damn service I have ever seen in any company I have ever dealt with. Mushkin is definately #1 on my recommendation list. Just to let you guys know I paid $178 total for the two chips and free shipping and no tax, so total was $178. Total would have been $252 if I would have paid the real price for the Rev2 chips. Gotta Love Mushkin for this one.
