My Brag AND Moan saga:
I ordered a Compaq celeron 633 + Canon bjc-2100 + 17" monitor from Mercata for $1151 - $100(mercada) - $207(msn) = $844 - $200(compaq rebate) - $50(canon rebate) = $594. I ordered it like on 11/15 i think? and i was expecting it before thanxgiving (early christmas present for a co-worker, she wanted it at thanxgiving for her son to surprise him)
well, on monday of 11/20, they call me up and say the order cant go through on my cell phone, because i gave them a different credit card # on my passport. so i spent the next hour (on my cell phone) arguing why it hasnt shipped yet and what the real problem was. they said that since i gave a different CC#, they didnt have authorization to charge me. im like, wtf? so i gave them the CC# that came w/ the msn account.
on friday 11/24, they call me on my cell phone (again) and say that the CC# i gave wasnt big enough to charge the price of the computer. my CC# is $1000, but they said they had to go around and order the 17" monitor by itself (like $250?) and the computer by itself ($900?) and then they'd credit me back the difference which i should be charged, $844. but of course, they couldn't so i ended up using the first CC# i gave them in the first place, so they charged it to that. they also said that for the inconvenience, they'd upgrade my monitor to 19" (they also said they didnt have any 17" also)
my computer came 12/4, there was a 19" monitor, a compaq celeron 633, and to my surprise, a Brother mfc-7300c 5-in-1 multifunction printer! i looked at my account in mercata, and the guy ordered a 19" monitor as one charge, and then a celeron 633 + brother multifunction printer! my account has properly been credited back to $844, but now i just paid $50 more (because i get no canon rebate) for a freakin $300 printer. as for the early christmas present, she didnt mind at all, because she said she wanted to buy her own printer anyway. so all in all, not a bad time after all, just waited a lil bit too long....
