Heh finally something to brag and sort of moan about...
Saturday I order the Apex AD-800 DVD player at amazon for $79.99 shipped along with the Buffy Season 2 DVD Box for $22.50 shipped...
Sunday I go for a haircut, and down the street there's this new supermarket with annoying loudspeakers going on about some raffle for their grand opening you could enter if you bought $20. Something about winning a DVD player. So my mom decides to actually go and shop there, I was like whatever, I might as well go. I said out loud, boy it'd be pretty ironic if I actually won a DVD player because I just bought one. So we went in, bought some stuff...I suggested that if she bought $19 or so I'd buy a drink and it could go over $20 and we might as well get a raffle ticket or something. Anyway, we were going to checkout and probably didn't have $20 yet but my mom decided to grab some more stuff...heh I guess she wanted a shot at that raffle too =)
So $24.96 of food later, we check on out. We ask the cashier how this raffle thing works and she said just show the guys upstairs your receipt. So we go up and outside onto the sidewalk where the guys are, hand them the receipt, they tear it and basically you reach into this glass tank and pull out a stapled piece of paper. They opened it and it said....DVD.
After the guy looked it over and realized it was the DVD he yelled out to the other guys that someone had finally won a DVD player(which was their biggest prize), and this confirmed that we got the player not just some stupid movie. I then said "Oh sh*t!" because I had previously said that it would be ironic as hell if we won...
So yeah, that was quite the hot deal. We posed for some cheezy publicity thing they take of all the winners, and I guess we were glad it wasn't some rigged raffle, and that it was legit since we were walking out of there with a new Apex AD-1500...lucky for me it was a D series serial and easily hackable and is now hacked and working perfectly. =)
Of course there is that whole deal with the DVD player I ordered...turns out I could have canceled it on Sunday night but I was kind of teetering between canceling and not...finally I decided to hack the AD-1500 and sell it then keep the one I ordered UNLESS it couldn't play VCDs and couldn't be hacked...hmm...not too sure though because hacking the AD-800 requires a new programmable remote...
Either way $24.96 for an Apex AD-1500 and plenty of food(and that nice Soy Milk Drink I bought!) is one hell of a hot deal. Hacking it then selling it for $90ish then keeping my $79.99 progressive scan Apex is an even hotter deal I think
