brake drum hardware replacement?

What should I realistically be paying for a brake drum hardware replacement? Wife hit a pothole and the pins/springs broke int he brake drum causing brake to seize up. Dealer quoted me $375. This doesn't include resurfacing the drum which is damaged. Does that sound right?

Last time I got shoes replaced it cost me about $175 for both sides. Parts are cheap on the hardware and labor isn't much more than replacing the shoes (actually labor time should be identical). Am I getting fucked?

It depends on a lot of things. When the hardware came loose how much damage did it do? Broken springs, brake shoes, wheel cylinder, the drum....

No, sounds way high IMO, even more so in that they are not including the drum. Buy the parts and DIY, leave one side (the good one) intact if need be as a reference point. Repairing you own vehicle saves serious $$ and gives you satisfaction. Last year I needed a vent vaalve solenoid replaced, a $17 part, thing was it was on top of the tank, shop price $250 because he said you had to drop the tank. I was able to just drop it partially and slide it on it's mount in 2.5 hours, kind of a PITA job as your on your back the whole time and jamming your hand into tight places but I got it done. Now some simple math, $250 vs $17, I paid myself $93/hr to do the repair, I'll take that all day long. A lot depends on if you have the tools or an area to work on it, I know a lot of Apt. complexes frown on people jacking up their car and working on it, if so you may need to ask a friend to borrow his driveway for awhile, buy his family a pizza or 2 and bribe him, everyone loves free pizza!..

No the price seems fine since 1 you live in Hawaii and 2 you went to the dealer.

You can probably get it done a little cheaper. Call around and ask for a rear brake service that includes the hardware kit, shoes, and drums. If a spring broke and caused it to lock up chances are you need at least one drum.

DIY- As mentioned BUTCH1, do one side at a time. Take pictures from several angles before you start .Wear gloves.
