brand new LCD wont work on system...but it works on another computer!

EDIT i checked the refresh rate again, and i dont know why, but it was changed to 60hz and 85 hz every other time i checked it with the CRT...so i guess that explains why the LCD was not working!


i just got a new 15'' LCD and it works fine on my good computer...p4 1.6a, radeon 8500, etc.

i tried to put it on my moms computer, which is why i bought it in the first place, and it will not turn on! it will show the POST, verifying the DMI pool data, and then proceed to show the loading windows xp stuff. it has built in speakers, and they play the boot sound and the LED turns green like it is receiving data, but nothing comes up. if you "hot swap" it with a CRT, it shows the desktop just fine. but, the LCD will not show the desktop and it works perfectly fine on another computer!

what is wrong? could the video card be too old or something? it is a voodoo3 2000 AGP...does that have anything to do with it?

You might want to boot that system with a CRT that it displays with, put the resolution atleast to 800x600 and refresh rate to 60hz.

After that, try plugging in the LCD.

There's a chance that the system set resolution and/or refresh rate is just too high for the LCD to display, hence, it will not display anything at all once it boots into Windows.

i tried all of that. it still will not work. i put the resolution on the recommended settings while a CRT was plugged in and the refresh rate is also at 75hz (LCD spec)

still doesnt work once it hits the welcome screen!! it works up until then....
