Microsoft don't even support xp so I don't see why AMD or Nvidia would

Even if XP was supported there is NO point XP can't properly address large amounts of memory, never mind it can't expose most of the hardware features of the GPU. But as I said in a very very narrow usage scenario where you happen to run XP and do F&H then an XP driver is for you.

But given the above it would make sense to do a few minutes of research before buying the hardware to make sure the ancient OS is driver compatible with the GPU. For some perspective Windows XP hit the market around September 2001.

I use lunix on my 24 core CPU boxes, but the video card setup is almost impossible to setup in linux, so I have been using XP for those.

And yes, XP 32 but works perfectly on a GTX 780, so that why I say I will never buy AMD anymore. And yes, I do have 10 boxes or more and its a waste for F@H to buy the latest Microsoft OS every time I get new hardware.

As for being accused of being rude, when you go on AMD's site to download drivers, it has you pick your OS, then gives you a button to click for download that you assume works for that OS. Until you read the fine print, its not obvious that it WON'T work. Any everybody getting on my case for not running the latest OS is NOT helping me, that why I said thanks for no help. And as for research before I buy ? Nvidia supports XP, so I just assumed that AMD would, as I thought they were competitive, but I guess not.

There are others that have made good suggestions, and to those, I thank you,

Try an old driver when CCC centre did support xp or do what you really should be doing and upgrade to windows 7

I don't know why you would assume that , Microsoft don't support xp and neither should Nvidia or AMD

Firstly, you're running an ancient OS you don't assume anything when it comes to hardware support. Secondly, now you're saying AMD is not competitive because they don't support XP for their latest graphics cards? How many people are running XP and go out and buy a brand new high end GPU? Maybe I missed it but was AMD criticized in reviews for not supporting XP on most of their R9 cards?

So is this thread about you trying to get your AMD card to work, or about you criticizing AMD for not being competitive with Nvidia? I honestly can't tell.
