So the factory CD does not work, and I download from AMD, and it also does not work, then I try to force it with windows driver as "R9 200 series" and still fails to work. Says "failed to start". I uninstalled ALL nvidia software first. It had a 560ti

WTF ?

What was your steps?

Did you unninstall Nvidia drivers and ran DDU before removing your card?

Which driver version are you trying? I suggest getting the 14.9.2 beta.

DDU ??? This is win XP 32 bit. And I removed the card before uninstalling drivers.

Changed card, booted, uninstalled all nvidia software, inserted AMD driver disk, installed, rebooted. Then tried to reinstall drivers, reboot, download drivers, install, reboot, etc... to no avail.

XP 32-bit? Are GCN cards even supported on XP? Even Vista users find recent ATI drivers no longer support. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that they've phased out new drivers for XP.

Well. my 560ti card worked fin, and I have a 780ti that works fine. This is my first ATI card in quite a while, and I am not impressed.

Compatible Operating Systems

The latest version of the AMD Catalyst™ Software Suite, AMD Catalyst™ 14.9.2 Beta Driver is designed to support the following Microsoft Windows platforms:

Windows 8.1 (32-bit & 64-bit version)
Windows 7 (32-bit & 64-bit version with SP1 or higher)

Note that Vista, and even Windows 8, is unsupported. No mention whatsoever of XP support.

I went to their site. Choose my OS and said "download" and that version did not work.

Why are you on Windows XP in the first place?

Maybe you should have made some researches before buying cards that don't even support XP anymore.

I'm not impressed at all.

That’s not surprising. Windows XP is a venerable operating system, to be sure, but it’s long overdue for mothballs. Microsoft will stop supporting the OS in April, and the company has been pushing for businesses, who are otherwise content to continue using the aged Windows XP, to upgrade to a newer version.

Other features of the AMD Catalyst 13.6 beta driver release include increased performance in PCMark benchmarks with AMD’s APUs; fixing an HDMI audio dropout problem; enhancements to AMD Enduro technology; AMD Wireless Display support (Windows 8); and more.

It is mostly pointless to use a modern video card with this OS. You are unable to use anything but DX9 not to mention the 32bit OS has very poor memory management. Time to upgrade!
First, this box and many other in my house do nothing but F@H,

So you are telling me that Nvidia works fine, but to use AMD I have to spend another $150 to upgrade the OS.

Please try an argument that holds water, and please try to help. not badger me.

You can drop 300+ on a modern 290X but can't spent 100 for a modern x64 OS?

You don't own an ATI card. ATI branding has been defunct for nearly a decade. Its an AMD card. Several generations of tech separate that 560Ti and the 780TI and the 290X. Its a lot like saying 'My Pentium 4 ran fine in this board, why doesn't this Core i7?'

Well, I am done here. you guys are worthless for support. Yes, its an AMD card, but the documentation says it works for XP 32 bit.

Thanks for nothing.

Yes. Your OS is ancient; a 2003 OS is not supported in 2014. You have no DX10 or 11 or 11.x or 12 support, no x64 support, shoddy memory management, etc. Hell, it don't even play modern games. XP is a defunct OS.

99 dollars, 100% legal. Could probably find cheaper with some digging easily enough, also legally.

-Download DDU http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

-uninstall NVIDIA graphics using add/remove restart the computer

-F8 into safemode and start DDU and select "clean and restart"

-Now download the latest AMD Graphic driver, use the beta ones if you want.

-Install drivers and restart the computer.

Done!

That suggests that failed installation was due to presence of Nvidia driver remnants.
Which to be honest shouldn't be the case even if he had left intact the ENTIRE nvidia driver stack.

So my guess is this won;t work. Shouldnt hurt if he tries though.
