Normally I would describe myself as a proficient computer user, but I feel a bit inept right now.
Recently, my computer became infected with a piece of spyware called Brave Sentry. It falsely acts as an anti-spyware utility and runs immediately upon booting into Windows. Unfortunately, Brave Sentry is causing my computer to crash immediately upon entering Windows. Once the "Welcome" screen appears, the hard drive clicks, and the computer immediately reboots. I cannot boot into "The Last Known Working Configuration" either. Thankfully, I can boot into Safe Mode after jabbing F8 when the computer is booting up.
I've been searching online for ways to remove Brave Sentry (http://www.pchell.com/support/spyaxe.shtml) and the information has been promising except for one glaring problem: I cannot install the cleanup utilities. Everytime I attempt install a cleanup program in Safe Mode, Windows pops up a message saying that there is "not enough memory" to run the program, and that I should run "exit programs" before proceeding. It will say this even if there are no other programs or windows opened.
Since Brave Sentry crashes my system immediately upon a normal boot, I cannot enter Windows normally to install these cleanup utilities.
So, according to Windows, I do not have enough memory in Safe Mode to install these cleanup utilities, and I cannot boot normally to install these utilities.
Can anyone provide any suggestions as to what I can do? Is there any way to "free up memory" in Safe Mode, or avoid a normal boot up? I'm pretty desperate; any help or guesses would be greatly appreciated.
