Frankly, I would rather see a horribly mismanaged and clusterfvcked Olympics than a passable ho-hum one because it will be helluva more entertaining...and screw the IOC.
I predict this will be amongst the most expensive least productive boondoggle in history. I predict most places that have good laws in place will either skip hosting the olympics or just spruce up what they have or Russia and China will be the only places that host the olympics.
Maybe for you but the summer Olympics are always bigger with bigger events. At least it's just the summer olympics, those don't tend to be as relevant as winter ones anyway. Hockey, curling and the more exotic sports like bobsled and luge are where it's at.

An attack on Rio’s largest hospital, close to the Olympic stadium, sparked security concerns. More than 20 armed men stormed the hospital on 20 June to reportedly free a drug kingpin being held inside, leaving one person dead and two injured.
The police could not call for backup because they do not have a helicopter at their disposal.
Is the only way to get to the hospital by helicopter? The police could not call for backup because they do not have a helicopter at their disposal.
lol this is hilarious.
I'm sure they'll manage to get things sorted out last minute though, like a country will donate police force time or something. Every year it seems there's all sorts of imminent disasters and it somehow manages to work out. In a way this is actually a bad thing, as it basically fuels all the corruption and stuff that goes on. We almost need a super disastrous olympic to potentially fix or at least raise more awareness of the crap that goes on in the background.
IIRC no other recent Olympics was held in country suffering such a deep recession like Brazil. This could be the very first dud.
It's about a bunch athletes in top physical form boning all night in the Olympic village. The olympics can be a good thing, it's a way for different countries to get together and compete in games for fun and can be great entertainment for even non sports fans, it's just too bad there is so much corruption involved in it. I don't know if it's me but it seems to be worse every year as far as corruption goes. Sochi was kinda a mess too, though not quite as bad. Lot of terrible things happened behind the scenes though like people being kicked out of their houses to watch them get bulldozed to build a road that was already built somewhere else.
All this crap for a 2 week event.
But wait, there's more! No, really, because they only found PARTS of a mutilated body. The rest might show up later.
NBC will spin the coverage into sunshine and rainbows.
