Pumpernickel > Rye >>>>>>>> Wheat > White.

Wheat and White are only usefull to keep your food from getting your fingers all messy or sticky. It's kinda like how lettuce is mostly useless and only exists in food so that you can have crunchy.

Ugh, wheat and rye suck donkey balls, worse tasting shit ever. Love me some white bread, buttered, lightly toasted.

I voted not because I'm diabetic and I test everything. All breads send my blood sugar through the roof. So no bread for me.

Rye, sourdough, pumpernickel or a garlic & rosemary bread... yum.

Toasted is great for sandwiches.

I've been eating gluten free bread recently. It's astonishingly delicious, but it's also astonishingly $8.00 per loaf...

my grandfather and mother have the gluten disease whatever its called, and my mom loves pretzels, i surprised her with a bag of gluten free pretzels the bag was $9 at publix, its ridiculous, everything gluten free is incredibly expensive.

Christ, white isn't even bread. It's a fail loaf of structured air. Worst poll ever.

These were all made with a natural sourdough starter except the Challah.

Three cheese and beer wheat

Challah and pumpernickel

Cherry pecan

Raisin pecan

I think I'm going to make some bread today. Thread makes me hungry.

Homemade white bread > any grocery store bread: wheat, rye, it doesn't matter. Most other varieties of homemade bread > homemade white bread.

And, if the wife gets here soon enough, I'll bake a couple loaves of bread when I get home. Well, I'll mix them, for the first time when I get home. Then let them rise for an hour. Then punch them down & knead them again. Then rise again. Then bake. Yum!

Yeah, the stuff is crazy expensive. Up here if you are medically diagnosed as Celiac and therefore need to eat a very strict gluten-free diet, you are eligible for a tax credit due to the fact gluten-free products are far more expensive and because you technically need them to live (dubious, since you could just eat meat, potatoes, and vegetables like most normal humans, but whatever). I think it is something like a 65% tax credit on your grocery bills.

Anyway, not sure how it works in The United States of America, but worth looking into if they have not already. If I was actually Celiac, I would be all over that.

Like others have said, all the bread talk made me break down and buy some French bread from Albertsons. It was cut into four sections, buttered and toasted and enjoyed with Spaghetti-Ohs. :whiste:
