Eh, if everyone was armed, I'm sure it would help in some cases and hurt in others. Case in point, that crowded movie theater shooting from a few years back--a dark theater full of pistol-wielding do-gooders would probably have done way more damage than what actually happened. Then in other cases, possibly this one, it could help prevent more deaths.

Take away the guns, there still will be mass murder. Give everyone guns, same. Regardless of what the rest of the world does, the 2nd amendment isn't going away...even Obama, he of the FEMA death camps, couldn't manage to take 'em all away!

As long as this country has a collective mental health problem that appears to be getting worse, the killings will get worse. Not an easy problem to solve. Personally I'd start by recommending people not stay glued to the fricking cable "news" all day long, it's like an anxiety IV.

This is true. A planned attack from ambush is impossible to stop.

Do we even know how many were inside the church? How many potential casualties were there if he was not engaged by the other man?

Did anyone else notice how the victims were all overweight, even the kids? Would they not be better off getting some physical activity on Sunday morning instead of sitting in a pew? Seems to me like we can help address both church shootings and obesity, while preserving our sacred gun rights.

We need to consider all solutions, except gun control, not be PC snowflakes about it while people are getting shot and/or obese.

So, you're comfortable with only the government having guns <snip>

this is already true. it's not a case of "you got a gun, i got a gun". your AR won't help you defend yourself if the government wants to take you.

Me, ch33zw1z. I want guns banned. I'm clear that won't ever happen but if I could somehow miraculously manage it I would ban guns.
just imagine a world where that could be, then cover it in shit, hate, envy, lust, fear, pain, vengeance, religious nutters, and that healthy dose of reality reveals why your utpoia wont happen.

dare to dream. commendable

Look, thoughts and prayers obviously don't work. These people got shot in a church, for Christ sakes. So we can keep trying failed PC approaches, or we can help address church shootings with an abstinence based approach that also has the benefit of helping with obesity epidemic. A win win.

Guys... you think officers respect the potential of you being armed? Of course they "respect" it... in the sense that if you so much as twitch a muscle they don't like.. they'll shoot you dead on the spot. Police are f'ing terrified of people. They pull their guns with itchy trigger fingers ALL the time. And if you didn't notice, #BLM is based on that reality of people being slaughtered by terrified cops. Maybe that situation isn't all fun and games.

Maybe it's not a bonus to have police wanting to put people down for the slightest of movements.

I was shocked the Lautenberg Amendment didn't cover military charges. It makes absolutely no sense.

It does cover them. Clarification: the Lautenberg Amendment covers only misdemeanors because all violent felonies already disqualify the offender from buying a gun.

http://usacac.army.mil/sites/default/files/documents/sja/lautenberg.pdf

Given that he served a year of military confinement, I think he was actually charged with a felony. Either way, he shouldn't have been able to purchase a gun.

The mystery here is why he was denied a carry permit (in TX, no less) but allowed to purchase the gun. You'd think whatever disqualified him from a carry permit would have disqualified him from purchasing it.

LOL, I don't believe in utopia. Humans aren't designed to achieve it or experience it. That's exactly why guns should be removed.

Lol...Trump is still regurgitating the "it's to soon to talk about this" Shtick.

Surprised we didn't get a word salad similar to: "I send both my thoughts and my prayers, the best thoughts and prayers ever, out to those effected by this latest unpredictable, inevitable shooting that we can't do anything about. Now as constitution supporting Americans they knew what the founding fathers' signed them up for, but I guess it still hurts. So we condemn, in the strongest possible terms this act of violence on many sides, on many sides"...
