Or as I heard it could be a ploy to out a bunch of leads the FBI is working on to effectively stymie the investigation.
The lawyer I heard on TV had a hard time summarizing to normal English but essentially it closed avenues for investigation because no charges could be made, that lets other crap go unnoticed.

I'm suspicious as well especially since Trump is encouraging Flynn to seek immunity. Flynn does so, testifies to nothing significant and Trump claims victory because poor Flynn was driven to seek immunity when he shouldn't have needed it. Poor guy and it's a good thing Trump the Merciful saved him by his wise counsel. Can't take anything for granted.

Sounds right, he's probably thick in it (and other scandals). If he's the lynchpin for a few then they'll effectively be halted as well. So one or two guys take the fall for an administration's worth of corruption.

It sounds shady. Esp. with Trump endorsing it. I wouldn't give him immunity.

This is the part that makes me feel he isn't the one that'll be the target. Diming out an underling leaves him nice and clean. Pretty sure mobsters did this as well.

Can we all just stop for a second and think about the OP in question.

First hand accounts of sources are deemed valid per reporting guidelines, what this guy is doing is heresay reporting a 2nd hand account of unknown sources. This doesn't work as testimony in court, and shouldn't work for us to be taken as credible information. It may eventually be true, but I think it is important that we don't accept information reported in this manner. We, collectively, are the editors of twitter. Retweet responsibly.

While I agree, let's discuss Trump's repeated reliance on "trust me, very credible sources" to backup some claim, yet those sources never revealed.

Like it or not, the Con's have set the bar and know what the American people want, #MAGA

I think this thread has morphed into Flynn's attorney asking for immunity for his Congressional Testimony. Maybe it needed its own thread.

Looks like you're right. Just looks bad that the OP and thread title is about a might be and hearsay reporting.

They tried to accuse Sessions of perjury because of the convoluted question asked by Franken. Flynn would be an idiot to talk under oath without some protection. This is going to be very disappointing for some lefties here. His lawyer pretty much said the same thing.

Yep. It's always some Dem's fault that a republican got tricked into volunteering information that was never requested.

Always the victim. never responsible for one's own actions/stupidity.

Seriously, Franken's question was pretty straight forward. Sessions offered information that wasn't requested....it was the lulz.

Guessing it's a hail mary from Flynn's camp. Trying to get as much legal protection as possible before shit goes down. He's nervous/scared and trying to save his skin. I don't think he gets it either. Seems like a public ploy to sway some opinion his way. If what he had were really important or necessary, there would be no reason to play this out in public. The DoJ/committees would come to him.

Similar to a saying a lawyer once told me. Son kills his Parents then asks for mercy from the Judge because he's an orphan.

It's pretty simple really. If Flynn is offering to incriminate someone else more important than him, or someone equally important but guilty of something more serious than whatever Flynn may be guilty of, they should consider granting him immunity. If he is merely offering to voluntary testify with no assurances of anything, then of course not. They can just subpoena him to testify. They don't need to give him immunity. And if he wants to take the 5th, he can go ahead and do that on national television. Flynn has no leverage for ask for an immunity agreement unless he is offering something up.

Considering that they can proffer with Flynn they can know basically who and how Flynn can incriminate. Depending on how the proffering goes, they grant him immunity, there should really be no way for him to be duped.

That tells me the intel committee thinks they have enough dirt to burn Flynn and those he was trying to roll under the bus, thus they don't need his info.

They should grant him immunity imo. Inquiring minds want to know.

There's an active investigation going on and it could be that Flynn suspects he may be caught and therefore trying to get away before he's caught. Perhaps at some point immunity might prove a good option but for the moment I'd hold off. I want to know things too but not badly enough to bite the hook.
