i found it was the opposite. when i woould pick a day to "splurge" eat a treat, i found the extra fat and sugars really didnt taste as good as i remembered it. i went to my fave pasta place and had fettuccini with grilled shrimp and broccoli.

i would say figure out what your fave food was back in the "dont care" eating days and have that again. usually the dissent with changing your eating style is that you tend to miss your fave food. eat that.

and have a couple beers, you can burn that off with a walk later on or something.

I hope you're right! Actually, I'm the master of my own destiny - fuck that, I can eat a burger one day and healthy the next!

i dropped 95 lbs in 10 months doing that. the first 30 i dropped by not drinking 64oz of mt dew a day.

if I could have a day where I could eat whatever the hell I wanted?

breakfast: french toast (white bread) with sides of taylor ham and bacon and OJ
lunch: buffalo chicken sub with extra chicken, bacon, and mayo
dinner: pizza with extra cheese and pepperoni
dessert: haagen dazs banana split

of course, what I've actually eaten today...

breakfast: half a cup of protein cereal w/ skim milk
lunch: 3 ounces of duck
dinner: idk yet, but probably a salad with oil and vinegar. going out for mexican with a friend and mexican restaurants never have anything low carb/low cal/high protein

The key to cheating successfully is planning it so you don't fall off the wagon. Works for me, sounds like you're doing it right.

When I cheat, there are certain things I will not allow still, like soda, or alcohol. Maybe I'll have 1 guinness but drink it slowly.

Eat what you like. Pizza, pasta, chinese, that's the point. When I cheat I prefer high fats as they satisfy hunger and I tend not to overat as I am so used to eating less from my routine. I find after dieting for a while it now takes work to gorge like a glutton.

BTW, on your normal diet, egg whites are basically worthless. Eat the yolks of your eggs, the cholesterol in food doesn't affect the levels in your body. The yolks are where all the nutrition is at. You'd be better off cutting out the bread and any sugars. I could add some more diet comments but will hold back. Everyone is different, but I eat 3 eggs and 2 pounds of grass-fed beef a day and my cholesterol is fine. Your liver produces more than you can eat in a day.

I'm not particularly low carbing, but at mexican joints you can get grilled chicken over salad greens, with salsa/hot sauce on the side for flavor. That's pretty low carb. Hell, go for the steak over greens if you're allowed.

 I have to lose 70 more pounds - a long way to go, but I'm not in any rush. It's funny, now that I'm married I couldn't care less about aesthetics, I'm just tired of being tired all the time.

Funny you mention egg whites - I'm not really a big egg fan, and my wife gravitates toward the whites. Since I'm whatever about them I don't really care if they're regular or white, but I'll let her know. I feel the same way about bacon - good quality pork bacon isn't really all that bad for you in moderation, making turkey bacon seem like more of a "look at me, I'm eating healthy!" ritual than anything else. And, my god, does real bacon taste great!

On your other note, yes, I feel like we have to plan everything in order to succeed and stick with it. I'm really not the anal type, but if you open our fridge you'll see freezer bagged/individual servings of protein... Cheese cut and vacuum sealed into single servings.. Hell, I even hide bulk items of convenience food in my car because I've been known to go on cereal binges...

So tomorrow is a day of planned caloric chaos, and I feel a little guilty for being so excited about it. I mean, we're going to see a movie and maybe a concert as well - yet I'm totally psyched about our meals

Cheating is good for you body too. It keeps it guessing and having a high caloric day will actually help you in the long run. I am working on alternating higher and lower caloric days but always in a deficit. let yourself have fun with it. As long as you're prepared to get beck on the wagon the next day, you're set. I would say enjoy the time out, just don't have any soda at the movies.
