Several were shot and have been taken to a hospital, a police spokesman Don Coppola told ABC television affiliate WAFB.

“The scene, we feel now, is contained,” he said. Coppola had no information on the extent of injuries or whether a suspect or suspects had been detained.

I understand the frustration but going to war with the police isnt going to make anyone safer.

It's complete craziness.
Most of the time, police shootings are a (sadly) necessary (with the US's open door on gun ownership) process, which the police need to do, to avoid getting shot and killed themselves and/or keep safe the general public.

Rarely, this process does go wrong, and partially/fully the police are at fault or to blame. But it is like this in other jobs.

E.g. A surgeon may accidentally make a mistake, and the patient dies.
If a patient dies partly/fully due to a doctors mistake, you DON'T go to a hospital and shoot dead, 4 doctors.

I'm disappointed with groups like the BLM one.
It should/must be ALL LIVES MATTER or similar.

They seem to be increasingly creating a kind of terrorist group, within society. Which seems to be willing to gun down innocent police.

Doctors carry insurance. If they kill too many people they are weeded out because the premiums become too high. Maybe its time for cops to carry personal liability insurance. Once the premiums become to high they cant work as a cop anymore.

Well in the UK, after the police shoot (or other method/accident) someone dead (very, very rare, here). There is always an investigation, and it is done independently of the police. The results of the investigations, are usually made public (maybe not always and some things may be withheld).

That probably helps with the Police vs General Public relations.

We use to (a very long time ago) allow the police to investigate themselves. But learnt from experience that this method works very badly. Sometimes creating terrible injustices.
