Nexus 4 pricing has dropped by $100!!!

8GB: $199
16GB: $249

https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=nexus_4_8gb
There is no better value.
Forget the Optimus G Pro, HTC First, Galaxy S4 Mini, HTC One Mini, and Moto X. This is the phone to get.

***EDIT***
The official Google Play Twitter account has just confirmed the "25% off or more" sale for the Nexus 4 is active in Australia, Canada, Germany, Spain, Korea, US and UK.

Nope, the s4 Goolge Play Edition is buggy.
The applications can't even read/write the uSD card, people are returning it.

OK. I will bite. I'm a sucker for bargain and this is hot regardless of the dated hardware. Pentaband, unlocked, and pure Google with timely updates. $249 is hot for 16 gb.

Holy crap. That's an amazing deal for that phone. I wonder what that means for the future...

Any guess as to early price drop? It's too early for Nexus 5. That's still 2 months away at the earliest. Perhaps we'll see GPe Moto X for $349?

That's a really great guess. Here's hoping it is, and when the dev edition comes out, we can just switch over to that ROM.

Thats a hell of a price for the hell of a phone.
You can't find anything close to this calibur of a phone for this price.
My only fault with the phone is the camera.

There are a ton of new phones coming out next month, so it isn't too surprising if they want to be price competitive and clear inventory before Nexus 5 comes out whenever it is supposed to.

It's not that bad. And Photo Sphere is pretty awesome. I've gotten more awed responses from Photo Spheres than I did from pictures I took with my DSLR. (Which is kinda sad, in a way.)

Yeah compared to a 2 yr old phone its not bad but compare it to any current phone its really bad.
The pictures I don't mind but the Nexus phone does the worst job of focusing of any phone I've had recently.

Now to wait and see what the second hand market drops to. Swappa sellers are still $270 or more. I don't want to be the dick that tells them they are more than retail new.

I ordered two 8GBs. Thank you, OP. Not sure what to do with them but I couldn't resist.

I really doubt the GPe Moto X will be $350. I expect it'll be about $580.

They probably just have more stock than they need and expect it'll take a couple months to clear out the inventory for the Nexus 5.

Now I can abuse the hardware to my heart's content without worrying about something going wrong and losing communication with the world. The N7 (2012) wasn't up for the task because it lacked telephony and back camera (and some other sensors) as well as performance.

Even if Moto X sells for $350 (unlikely), that is still $350 for the entry. The N4 now starts at $200, thus if you are OK with 8 GB and lack of LTE, then the required expense is almost double for the Moto X.

Of course if one cannot live without LTE then the N4 wouldn't be a candidate to begin with. But for those who primarily rely on Wi-Fi for data this is an unbeatable deal.

But why wouldn't someone be okay with the lack of LTE? Aside from benchmarks and bragging rights, I mean. I tried out LTE on my N4 on T-Mobile and compared it with HSPA+.

Good reception:
HSPA+: 20 Mbit/s down, 3 up, 131ms latency
LTE: 19 down, 11 up, 50ms latency

Iffy reception:
HSPA+: 5.8 down, 1.7 up, 140ms latency
LTE: 6.9 down, 9.1 up, 194ms latency

LTE is faster, particular in the uplink, but the downlink speeds aren't all that different, and most importantly, it doesn't show in everyday use.
