This is beyond senseless. I suspect this tragedy is going to usher in new laws or procedures. I would'nt be surprised if armed guards will now be present in schools or some similar measure. Maybe some of the teaching staff should be permitted to bring weapons.

Which is just another reason to lose faith in humanity, along with what these crazies did. Or this crazy... is it just down to one shooter now?

Lose faith in humanity for abandoning logic in favor of emotion in the coming days.

This is a time for emotion and outrage, and I'm outraged at this story. But that emotion and outrage should not translate into any sort of changes in anything.

How many days have gone by in how many elementary schools in the history of this country or, even today... how many elementary schools exist in the USA where this didn't happen?

These shootings are too common and getting moreso, and this is the most vile example yet, but they are still incredibly rare and not anything laws should be based on.

Armed guards at schools? Retarded. Metal detectors at elementary schools? Retarded.

Principle and gym teacher packing heat? Now we might be talking.

Reports are that the shooter was a father of one of the students.
He was from NJ.
He got into an argument with school officials.
Argument reportedly about bullying.
Most of the bodies were found in a kindergarten classroom.
Still some reports of possible second shooter.
All 1200 state troopers have been called on to respond.

THIS is a serious problem in this country and something that needs to be addressed in a major way nationally. Our society has a habit of teaching people to try to eat each other, and it starts at a very young age, and the people who go through it for extended periods come out the other side very damaged sometimes.

Now, imagine if the father went through this all through school and it has caused his life to be a torturous hell to live through and he found out his kid was being bullied and the school didn't give a crap when he brought it up. Him snapping could have been the final break caused by years of his own bullying in his youth.

Bullying is a sickness that this country needs to find a cure for in a major way. Obviously, I am not saying the father was in the right in any way, shape, or form; but if this report is true it just reaffirms that a lot of these school shootings stem from incidents of bullying.

I just found out my aunts friend's kid goes to that school. Parents are heading over there now.....hope they are ok.

They should legalize torture for cases like this. Put this scumbag in the city square and tie him up to the pole.

Give him minimal water and food to survive as people from the town and surrounding cities/states come visit to poke at him.

Heck, video tape it and put it on you tube for every person to see.

From what I'm reading it sounds like the surviving adults at the school as well as local police did a great job of doing what they could. Hats off to them.
