I had lunch today at my favorite New York Pizzaria today, and on the way to the bathroom I see a women take her breast out and start breast feeding her baby. Now, I am a woman, and a strong supporter of women's rights. I just don't know what to think about this. Is this behavior appropriate in a restaurant setting, or should the women have pumped her breast milk earlier and bottle feed the child in public? Thoughts?

Wow...just wow....
For the love of crimminy folks...WTF is a breast and a nipple for again? Ahh that's right for feeding a child. The breast is only sexual to those that make it. My wife has breastfed our two children and even *I* was hesitant at first. Why because I felt uncomfortable with my wife pull out her breasts to feed our child. Then I realized what a beautiful thing it was to share special moments with our children.
You want to know what pumps are really for? The men. My wife worked on the weekends to get some free time, so she would have to pump beforehand so our babies would have milk. Not because we were afraid of people saying something... Don't even get me started about these asinine comparisons between flatulence and breastfeeding.
The only people I've ever seen have a problem with public breastfeeding( and oh dear the most you can see is the side of a breast...someone save the children) are:
1. People without kids
2. Uncomfortable with their significant others baring portions of their breast.
Some people need to look to some examples of female fashion and wonder why you are complaining about breastfeeding, but would gladly see a beautiful women parading around in nothing but a bikini and high heels...

Actually Jules, zendari does have a point. Farting and pooping are natural things in the body. It is only society that has a problem with it. You don't see animals having any qualms about going in front of their fellow animals.
So in the same way it is mannerly to not fart and poop in public, it is mannerly to not breast feed in public. It is a beautiful thing, but it should be reserved to privacy. I don't think farting is a beautiful thing, but the logic that both of them are just natural body functions is still true. The same goes for the physical act of sex (which is a beautiful thing ) , but you don't see people running out on the street "doing it".
So going by the reverse logic that some of you ATOTers are saying, farting and pooping in public isn't an issue either. How about burping? I highly doubt many of you would say the same about these things.
Of course it is more mannerly to use the pumped milk in a public place. I have no major qualms with breast feeding in public, but if we are talking about an issue of manners, it is more mannerly to feed the kid the pumped milk in public.
Unless your family's living on minimum wage or some low paying job, and the cost of a breast pump just isn't something you can really afford.Use the pump. It is just mannerly.
