Brent Musburger Advocates Steroid Use

Musburger said nothing incorrect, and nothing outrageous. They do work. And for the most part there isn't much peer-reviewed, published science on legitimate, long-term steroid risks. A lot of the claims made against steroids have very little science behind them, and/or require stupid levels of abuse to achieve. It's worth discussing...oh wait, Congress already took care of that for us, with grandstanding and yelling "steroids BAD, durr durr durr" and passing ridiculous legislation that classified anabolics as Schedule I.

But yeah, Brent will probably be disciplined by ABC for even suggesting that steroids aren't the devil incarnate.

I couldn't possibly give two shits about whether sports personalities are using steroids or not. I've heard all the health and fair competition arguments and I still couldn't possibly give a crap. Why does anyone care? Sports are a joke anyway, who the fuck cares if they're all juicing?

Uh, steroids are used by doctors. Quite often, in fact. Many medicines have adverse side effects, but are still used when the benefits outweigh the negative effects.

The Congress basically wanted to add steriods into a well established and legally tested classification of illegal drugs. Among other things this would include steroids in drug education programs. In other words it would be far easier than making a whole new classification for steriods and then having to rewrite thousands of federal and state laws.

Of course pharmaceutical companies and doctors who were making a ton of money off the use of steriods as ped's instead of medical treatment of disease lobbied against this.

Anabolic steroids, not anti-inflammatory steroids.

Yeah, I watched that documentary others are referencing on Showtime a few weeks back. It sure appears that the hype about the dangers of steroid use are way, way overblown......
