Anyone else catch the new show Brew Masters on Discovery?

Have not researched the show, but I am hoping that the whole series is going star Sam from Dogfish Head Brewery. That guy is extremely likable plus is willing to experiment and try different brews.

Have tried a few of their brews previously like Punkin Ale and 120 Minute IPA but did not know their selection was so large. Going to have to head to the local liquor mart to see if they can order some of the types mentioned in the show.

Eeek! Somebody's killed Malak and is now wearing his skin as a suit.

But yeah, this sounds like a cool idea for a show as long as they leave the Reality Show Fake Drama crap out of it.

Caught it off my DVR this morning. I'm a long time DFH fan, and it was really neat to "meet" the people behind one of my favorite breweries.

Bitch's Brew was fantastic when I had it a few months back. I really do hope they re-release it.

I watched it last night from the Church Key bar in NW DC. I happened to be sipping on Bitches Brew as well. Very very tasty!

Edit: Enjoyed the show as well!

I was really considering going there for the premiere. How was the turnout?

Churchkey is the shit. One of my coworkers has an in with the beer guy there, so we all went and had him pair beers with what we were eating. It was amazing.

Thought it sucked. Very little actual info on the beer making. Mostly another boring reality show.

Heh yeah, you are not the first to notice this. Did join before Malak and added the avatar before him, but his post per day far outshines mine. Am more than willing to share the avatar, there is plenty of Mentok to go around.

Was able to score a bottle of Bitches Brew by chance over lunch by searching in a dark corner of the local food/wine/beer shop. From what I heard it was a run of only 50,000 750ml bottles that went out three months ago.

Gonna save it for the weekend and share it with friends during football.

Was pretty quiet actually.

I was disappointed when I learned that the show would only follow DFH. I thought they would profile a new brewery every week.

Then it'd just be the same thing from week to week. DFH is one of the more radical brewing companies, and we'll get to see the process of those interesting beers from concept to finish as opposed to watching the same process of a typical brew every week.

There is always hope they may change brewery every season, otherwise why make the title of the show plural if you only going to have 1 brewery.

Oh you suck. None of the nearby stores got Bitches Brew. The only store that did was 45min away, & the entire stock was gone the day of release. Lame.

DFH is my favorite craft brewery. I just noticed the ads for this a few days ago. Am intrigued and if/when this comes to Netflix IW, I'll keep in mind to give it a watch. Otherwise am not going to go out of my way to watch it on tv and deal with all those commercials.

I was excited at the prospect of a show like this, untill I found out that a brewmaster was hosting it.

I know, he would know more about it, but I do not want any bias. I want the host and show to go to 6 point, Brooklyn, Anchor Steam, Yuengling and other breweries to look at their special stuff.

I would like to see not only what one company is brewing up special, but what ALL of them are. Go to the brew fests and do back story on the winners. The whole 9....

Maybe they will switch hosts as the season progresses?

After work I swung by ABC Liquor to talk to a buddy of mine that is often able to get hard to find beers. Said that all of the ABC's in the county, only 3 got a single case of Bitches Brew and that all were sold out in hours/days after the delivery back in August. Said it was something of a minor miracle in me being able to find a bottle and that having the bottle getting mixed up and buried under other Dogfish brands during a remodel (of the other non-ABC store) was the only reason I was able to find one.

I hate to tell you this, but the show is going to get boring very quickly and in no time it will devolve into some sort of drama like American Choppers.

Even American Choppers started off as a show that talked about how to build a bike.

There are only so many ways to tell that story. So beer is hops, barely, sugar and soemthign else. Then some "special" ingrediants. There is no staying power. They can't do this for 16 episodes. Pray they get more into the culture and maybe show how the distribution system works, etc. But this is going to evolve into some sort of lame drama. Probably with some fake, made for TV feud between the brewmaser and owner.

The first episode was interesting. I'd be happier if Food network did this show though and actually got into the sceince behind beer.

I watched it too, but not from the Church Key bar in NW DC.

Good show, but they need to cut off their side rap singing careers. Ugh. :$

This show is still interesting to me... I haven't seen it getting boring at all, especially with each episode focusing on a new idea, venture, or problem with a current brew.

Good news to people the missed out on Bitches Brew. They started a second production of the beer around Nov 15th. Been keeping and eye out and have noticed them appearing (at least in Florida). Just missed being able to buy a full case of the stuff, but was able to snag 2 bottles just now from the 2nd run. Guy said they should be getting at least a 2nd case next week.

I've had the 90 minute IPA. It is good.

I also had a 12% brew of theirs. Tastes to much like a boiler maker. I think it was a brown Ale. Tasted like a brown ale with a shot of vodka in it.

I got a new one for tonight. Forget the name but fermented with brown sugar and green raisins. Actually it is called Raison something. Raison D'Atre or something like that.
