It's not just CPU. You need to look at it in terms of platform. The best way is to play around with it. Atoms are in another generation. Also, read some reviews of battery life.

In no way is Core up to task. Even if its up to snuff in power management and form factor(and its NOT), the CPU would cost 5-10x ARM chips. Apple does the same thing without charging you that much.

Because it greatly matters on what sort of CPUs we will have to overclock in the future.

Sound cards used to be a huge thing, but today we don't have a soundcard forum. Things change, and looking at company decisions allows us to anticipate the market offerings in the future.

It's about PCs in general, not just CPUs. Off to general hardware.

IDC revised their estimate for Q1 and PC sales were down 12.5% YoY (from their forecast of -11.3%). If this continues to get worse, will Intel cut more people?

Consumers don't decide what they want or need, they're mindless drones. People don't need PC's any more, because Apple, Samsung etc. are telling them they don't need PC's (and have been doing so for years).

People want what's "in" and being marketed to them. Nobody wanted the iPhone before they knew about it, but Apple made people want it. Now Intel is trying to make people want the Internet of Things.

I agree. Basically i want less human beings on the planet, more wild life, more tigers, more free time, more women at my knees, less pollution, less cars on the highways, more wild salmon without radiations, computers? internet of things? cell phones? who cares.

So who is offering what i want?

Just gave that link a quick look and my god, IDC is such a PC apologist. They might as well blame terrible PC sales on global warming and planetary alignments.
