It's a huge announcement to anyone who gives a fuck who you'll divorce in a few years, because God forbid you actually work out the issues you both have rather say fuck it and split. Just go register for a marriage license at city hall and be done with. And when you can't stand each other's flaws, after you don't get excited about your partner, or get cheated on like all the other dumbasses who end up marrying, you can just get an annulment.

That letter is the very definition of sheer audaciousness. It would serve her right if every single person opposed her generous proposistion, forcing her last resort to be rent-a-bridesmaids.

Starting a marriage in such a dictatorial manner means it probably won't last long.

Annulments are only available if the marriage hasn't been consumated, or within a strict timeline or set of circumstances (ie.bride/groom goes into a coma). I believe you're talking about a divorce.

There is nothing wrong with what she did. This is HER wedding not theirs they do have the right to say no. If you can't make the wedding because of distance or cost then don't give some bullshit commitment. Does it come across a bit harsh? Maybe, but how many here have been to a weding where some dumb shit fucks it up?

She clearly lays out here expectations in no uncertain terms, nothing wrong with that at all.

But this is the EXACT reason why etiquette says you don't plan your own pre-wedding parties, the bridal party does. It's their job to do it, not hers, and in usurping their role in the wedding and dictating how much it's going to cost, she's being a bitch.
