Hi,

I am a little new to wireless and am interested in some tricks that are possible with wireless networks. I currently own 2 wireless routers and a few wired switches. I was wondering if there is any way to link the two routers together to boost the signal? Also, I would like to have a hard-wired network in the basement between three computers. How can I connect this to the wireless network which hosts the internet connection? It seems that I will have to get an wireless network bridge.. is there any way to use the two routers?

Thanks,
Brian

AFAIK you cannot use the 2 routers to bridge the connection, I faced a similar problem a week or so back and bought a Linksys WET54G wireless bridge, this works well and enables my entire wired network (printer, server + PC's etc) in my workshop to connect to my WAP in my house.

Any wired network can be bridged either in a router that has bother wireless and wired connections (or at least most of them). The wireless networks should be able to bridge together as long as they are in infrastructure mode, Ad-hoc mode will not join the to APs

How would I go about briding the two wireless networks? Have each router on a seperate channel and the same subnet:

Router 1: Channel 6, 192.168.0.1, Infrastructure Mode
Router 2: Channe 7, 192.168.0.100, Infrastructure Mode

Anything Else?

Two Wireless Cable/DSL Routers can not talk one to the other (There is one or two that can look at the Buffalo line).

To use two Wireless Router together you need to connect them Regular Port to Regular Port.

Link: How do I use a Wireless Cable/DSL Router as a Switch with an Access Point?

If you need to maintain the connection totally Wireless you will need Bridging Wireless Hardware.

What you need depends on the distance and the terrain.

perhaps I was misleading, you can do it if your AP supports bridging modes. There are APs that support infrastructure/ad-hoc modes that disallow bridging.
