I have a Dell Inspiron 3800 whose display has been behaving a bit strange lately.
I usually use the laptop with the external power supply connected, but a few days ago a friend borrowed the supply, so I ran on batteries for the first time ever. I was a little surprised to see that the brightness on the display actually increased when running on batteries. I checked the BIOS and found out that the brightness was set to max for both batteries and AC power. But it doesn't stop there: After a little testing, I've found that the brightest setting with AC power is *darker* than the darkest setting with batteries!?!
I've tried upgrading the BIOS, but it's still the same.
I'm a little confused here. Wouldn't the logical thing to do be reducing the brightness when running on batteries to preserve power?
