fake news
Obama's fault

Trump threatens more tariffs.
Trump's babysitters inform him that with the holidays coming up, now is not the time for more tariffs.
Trump literally tells China we are going to delay the new tariffs because it would hurt us during the holidays.
China laughs and implements the tariffs they had ready to go in response to Trump's proposed new tariffs anyway, effectively calling his original bluff that he took back off the table, forcing him to put them back on the table in response.
Winning intensifies.

President just provided guidance

As I predicted, Jay Powell and the Federal Reserve have allowed the Dollar to get so strong, especially relative to ALL other currencies, that our manufacturers are being negatively affected. Basically bring back inflation, which in a limited sense I don’t think is a bad idea however the President as usual has no plan.

Yeah the fed rate of just barely above zero is too high, after 8 years of attacking Obama for keeping the fed rate too low.

Trade wars: good and easy to win!

It’s amazing how many free market “conservatives" advocated for this. I agree that China was playing dirty and the corporate espionage and requirements to give up trade secrets to gain access to markets crap had to go, but the logic or lack thereof that some were using to defend a trade war and argue against long established economic principles was sad to say the least.

On another forum I visit that has a much more right leaning slant (it’s a football forum so to be expected lol) I couldn’t convince them that a tariff was a tax. Those baws were arguing come hell or high water that Trump implementing tariffs wasn’t the same thing as him raises taxes. That helped them justify it in their minds and preserve their core ideological principles of "raising taxes = bad", but tariffs are ok because somehow it’s different.

Do they think China is paying the tariffs?

Honestly they’re all over the place. Some say yes. Some say we pay for it but are convinced that’s not tariff though because then their ideological world would come crumbling down. Some say one thing and then another in the same sentence. And then others admit it’s a tax but one that’s needed to combat the economic injustices they see China doing (and I do agree with them that China hasn’t exactly played fair on many things).

News of this development will never reach small farmers.

They pay very close attention to Sonny Perdue & the news that affects them. They have to plan ahead, a lot. Another year of taking it in the ass for team Trump will ruin a lot of them & the big corporate farmers will be there to take advantage of their misfortunes. I figure that's how it will work out, sad to say, because the Chinese won't be handing Trump any victories.

I don't know, liberals still want forced abortions on the taxpayer dime and gayification camps so they may have to continue taking one for God's team.

F-Them, they literally voted for this. The President was very clear about tariffs and trade wars being easy to win. The news at the time cited farmers would likely be hit hard.
I have zero fucks to give them. I’ll have less than zero fucks if they vote the same way in 2020.
this boils down to:
trump: who ya going to blieve ME (and uneducated and unteachable buffoon who refuses to listen to anyone) or those in the fake media (who might actually know what they're talking about)!!!!!!!!!
crowd:YOU, YOU, YOU!!!!!!

The dollar today is worth essentially the same as it was the day he won the election.

That’s odd though, I have it on good authority that trade wars are good and easy to win and that China will have no choice but to surrender to us. I wonder what’s taking them so long?

Stupid is as stupid does.

I can't believe half of our country voted to nuke our record long economic expansion and blow up the deficit again just because they'd have to credit a D.

So instead they thought long and hard, and decided to vote in another elitist, draft dodging, business school flunky, with the minor tweaks of being less of a warmongerer, but far more corrupt, boorish and racist.

Bravo conservatives.

They genuinely won't care. I had a "discussion" with a friend-of-a-friend the other day about manufacturing jobs. (He very definitely wasn't a bot or a professional troll.) He was raging about Obama having said that Trump didn't have a magic wand to bring back manufacturing jobs. (It was a quote taken from a long, thoughtful answer during a townhall mostly focusing on the impact of automation.)

I pulled numbers and plots from the BLS to show that the modest growth that manufacturing jobs had enjoyed under Trump followed a very similar trend to what they had seen under the majority of the Obama administration, but that the totals remained well off of where they were 30 years ago. I was very snidely told to cut it out with my "fake news charts" and that "everyone knew" that job growth under Obama had been terrible.

They don't *care*.
