I appreciate it and I guess I made the better call then its just when reading everything online its like get a higher clocked cpu then cores. And it worried me as the hex cores only get around 3.5Ghz not 4 or more.
Ive been trying to buy a 6850 or even a 6900 all day, but I refuse to pay these 3rd party seller price gouging prices. Headed to microcenter tomorrow. Online it says they only have 6800 or 6950. Im hoping they have the middle guys too tomorrow.....
I have the mobo, ram, case, psu ready. Just need the processor and my 2 GTX1080 FTW to come......
This is a fail of a launch on Intel's part in terms of availability. Newegg is sold out of all but the 6800K.
Id have to agree. Only day 1, but I did not expect this type of availability of a cpu. A GPU I fully expect it. So Im surprised.
I will have the asus x99-II motherboard but my cooler will be a Corsair H100i v2 cooler. I just keep being told by others to sell it when i get it or return it and buy a 5820k or take everything back and get a 6700k.You should be able to get to 4GHz+ as long as you have a good cooler (AIO water cooler would be nice). Do you intend to overclock? What cooler are you using?

I purchased my i7 6800k from newegg for $450 and it will be here this thursday. I am finding a lot of posts saying it overclocks for crap barely getting 4.4Ghz where the 5820k can go higher minimum 4.5 no problem at lower voltages.
I am upgrading my pc after 7 years and want to not have to upgrade again for around the same time or more. I dont want to make a mistake. My cooler for whichever will be a corsair H100i v2 and I have the asus x99-II motherboard. I dont know what would be best to do as the 5820 is overclocking better or what please help and sorry if any of this is dumb first post
Amazon has them for $449 I see, but $36 in taxes..its that normal?

I appreciate it I just want something to last I keep going back and forth about those options or even all the posts saying the i7 6700k would have been better as I game more then anything else.
Me. I'll be buying one soon.We have a 2nd 6950X buyer in the poll! Who's the lucky person?
I appreciate your comment and same with everyone else at reassuring me I haven't messed up in building my new pc and picking my cpu. Thanks and I am now once again excited. This is certainly a more expensive build for me then I normally do I hope it pays off.I seriously doubt that there will ever be a game where the 6700k is significantly faster than a 6800k@4.4ghz but there will be lots of situations where the 6800k is much faster than the 6700k. Sure the 6700k will top the benchmarks in many games, but it will be single digit percentages, not making any difference in gaming experience. The 6800k will blow the 6700k out of the water in any multi threaded software. Whether or not games will be able to take better advantage of more cores to a significant degree is still unknown, but I would choose 40% better multi threaded performance with <10% single threaded performance penalty, any day.
Sorry for your loss, but not sorry for your chance to upgrade. Enjoy the new toy!
Wow, 2008-2016, eight years with the same CPU. Amazing how long that chip could hold up, and hold up well.
Welcome to the 6800K club
