Hey.. my first post at this board. Think it's gonna be quite long.
Need your advice/help with something. Since three years back i've been using a monitor called AcerView 78c manufactured by Acer. This is a simple/cheap monitor that works with two different driver-sets. Acer's own and the Plug and play monitor-driver.
I've been using the Acer-driver which gives me the option of using 120Hz in most resolutions. The plug and play-driver only let's me use 85Hz and below. The thing is, when i'm using 120Hz, the monitor makes a clicking sound upon changing resolutions. It does not make this clicking noise when using 85Hz.
For example, i'm using 1024x768 in windows, but 800x600 in games. 1024 using 100Hz and 800 using 120Hz. When i'm about to enter the game, the monitor makes a clicking sound and changes resolution. I didn't pay much attention on it at first.. But now i think this might be some sort of warning-sound.
Three (count 'em) monitors has broken when using 120Hz (replaced thx to warranty). Not sure what the problem is, but the 120Hz-click is all i can think of. The last monitor broke during a resolution change. It's almost as if the powersupply in the monitor fails.
I got my forth monitor yesterday and i've been using 85Hz with no problems or clicking noises.
However.. this creates a different problem. It seems my controller (mouse) now lags in games.. Unreal Tournament for example. This did not happen when i used 120Hz. I think i fixed the problem by changing "frames rendered ahead" to 1 (default was 3). VSync is ON (Off removes the mouse-lag but creates tearing.)
Phew.. kinda long first post, but i really hope some of you could help me out, gimme pointers on the clicking sound etc. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask 'em. And excuse my poor english, it's not my native language.
