Broke a pin on CPU. Was it needed?

Okay, I screwed up and was not careful. I was going to install a Socket 370 Celeron 566 and I broke off a pic. At a last chance at salvation I was going to see if by some stroke of luck it was an unused pin. If you put the two corners without a pi at the top. Looking at the pins it is on the outside row tenth pin from the tom.

Any clues?

Go check Intels website for the PDF document on Celeron chips. There is a detailed diagram that shows what each pin is used for. My guess is the chip is useless now unless you can somehow resolder the pin back on to the chip which isn't very likely.

If you check that PDF and it says its a grounding pin (grounded pin for grounding CPU), the celeron will most likely work. Besides, if you stick it in your mobo and it doesn't work, its not going to hurt anything.

Go to Intel Supportand get a pinout chart of the CPU to see what signal that pin went to. You might get lucky and it was only a power or ground. There are several dozen of those so it will still work without one. Could also have been an unused pin but not very many of those. If it was an address, I/O, or other critical signal you now have a nice keychain souvenir

If I remember correctly, only 3 of them are unused and they are towards the outside. Is it in the middle or outside? There are about 6 grounding ones, and those would be the best to break off..

Just stick it in your mobo and try it out, it won't harm anything if it doesnt work.
