Hey Everybody,
Just looking for a little help here from any electronics/scientific/whatever enthusiasts/experts.
I have a Compaq laptop that uses a standard LCD. I've had it for just under a year now. I don't use it AT ALL, as I haven't really needed it when I'm running a Barton / 9800 Pro / 1GB RAM / 160GB HDD system.
Anyways, I went to turn it on a couple days ago for my Mother to use. I opened the laptop, and I saw what looked like a crack on the left side and a smaller but significant one on the right side.
To say the least, I was shocked. I ran my finger over the screen lightly to see if it was just the plastic covering that had cracked, but it wasn't damaged in the least.
To make a long story short: the screen is not cracked from the outside, or inside. The glass in which the liquid crystals are contained has broken inside the laptop.
I bought an extended warranty when I got the laptop, so I took it there for repair. They refuse to do anything to the laptop and insist that I damaged the unit. I'm 200%, yes 200% sure that I never did anything that they say to possibly have caused this internal damage (they cited leaving laptop in extreme heat - never leaves the 75°F bedroom, they cited electrical power failure - never had a power failure in my home, they cited placing heavy objects on the laptop - it sits in the laptop bag, on my desk, so no)
Could it be stress in the glass that caused it to break? Something else? Again, I'm positive it wasn't me, my Parents or Siblings (my siblings don't even touch the laptop as they have their own PCs)
Anyways, just wondering if anybody has had a similar situation where the screen internally broke, and if so, did you ever figure out how it happened/why it may have happened, and how did you go about repairing it?
Thanks for reading the long post, any productive replies are appreciated
Peace
