Out of those my guess would probably be low blood sugar. Maybe your brother has undiagnosed diabetes? I'm no medical expert but it seems to make sense. *shrug*

Minutes after lying down and having some liquids, he's ok again.

First question is "Did the SOB wake him up, or did he wake up and get SOB?" (shortness of breath)

WTF is water going to do? Great flight crew you have there.

Loses vision, hearing, and disorientation. Returns to normal after lying supine for a few minutes. (Water had nothing to do with it, unless it was orange juice)

Soooo...

Actually the flight attendant did offer him OJ after the water too but I didn't think anything of it. Interesting OJ helps with low blood sugar - I'll have to check that out. He didn't mention that that's how he resolved it the other times.

The passenger in front of him as well as that flight attendant were both nurses too. They also gave him an oxygen mask/tank for the rest of the flight.

My grandfather also has diabetes so perhaps we're in for it. Thanks for the info.

Oh that is definately sleep apnea. Your brother would not know unless either someone told him, or he had incidences where he wakes up and either has dificulty breathing, or can't breath. He's had 5 incidenses of this that you know of. If he does not get medical treatment, one of these days, he's never going to wake up.

Based on some people I've seen with the condition, could be sleep apnea - but just a thought I'm throwing out there.
