Browning of liquid

Hi all.

I'm running ThermalTake fluid (mainly ethylene glycol) in my loop (Swiftech pump, micro res, 1x120 reservoir, Storm Rev. 2 block, 1/2" ID), and lately I've noticed that if I shine a light through the res, it comes out brown on the other side.

Any suggestions on what this is, and how to fix it? Or should I just be using another fluid? Thanks, still new to w/c.

sounds like formation of some type of algae. id drain the system, flush all the parts with distilled water, and make sure when you put everything back together get some type of algae inhibitor. aigo can help you more with what brand.

corrosion maybe ? if your loop is mainly ethylene glycol most algae would be dead

i need a full list of your eq.

and a picture of the setup to see whats wrong with your coolant

at this point it can be a different number of things.

Without more info, it would be hard to tell you whats wrong if there is any. It could also be the tube messing with the light u shine with the coolant inside.

need pictures.

If you look at the manufacture FAQ they recommend flushing the system every three to 4 months. Thermaltake has also switched their coolant to Propylene Glycol 4% and water 96%. Also note that as Propylene Glycol or Ethlyene Glycol are exposed to the sunlight, they will turn brown in color.

so can plasticizing on the tubing. and a lot of other things.

Yeah... so we need pictures to give him an accurate diagnosis as well as his complete eq.

But seeing how the op never returned... i guess he figured out his problem.
